These shows were the first time I could afford to buy myself a ticket and go each night of the 4 nights.I was 18 years old,out of High school, and working.
My very first show, in a very long line of shows. 10th row center (thank you BC). Jerry played pedal steel with NRPS, Banjo with the Dead. Pig Pen. You never forget your first! Got to hear the next night on the radio.
This Venue was cool. It was right next to Madison Square Garden. The sound system was very good as far as I new. I took my older brother to his first Rock n Roll show There, to see the DEAD. He had only seen Latin Salsa concerts which were also very good.We had a great time.
Jerry and NRPS blew me away!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone remember what time they got done playing? Ha, tough question I know. :) I was born in the wee hours of 12/5 a few miles away, so I wonder if the boys were playing as I entered the world. Kind of a nice thought, anyway...
Truckin', Sugaree, Mr. Charlie, Beat It On Down The Line, Tennessee Jed, Jack Straw, Run Rudolph Run, You Win Again, Me And Bobby McGee, Comes A Time, El Paso, Smokestack Lightnin', Cumberland Blues, One More Saturday Night
Ramble On Rose, Me & My Uncle > The Other One > Mexicalli Blues > The Other One > Wharf Rat, Casey Jones, ENCORE: Johnny B Goode
Having visited many venues for similar shows, I found this one really cool. The entry system was very transparent although tight security measures were in place. I hear that the next venue is for the Latin Salsa. I don’t know if I would go, however.
