Looks Like Rain -- no, it's just Mary weeping on my shoulder
Back in Colorado. So glad to be back among the Rockies. So glad to head down to McNichols for another dose of magic. This time I brought my new girlfriend who had never seen them. Drank French Beaujolais and ate Boulder shrooms driving down with my band-mate Steve, and his wife. The Dead came out loaded for bear, ripping on overdrive like many 81 shows. During Looks Like Rain my girlfriend was so affected by the tune she began to cry. I knew then I was in for a wild night -- and thank you, Bob, for that. Later, during the second set, I ended up dancing ecstatically by the doors with everyone and anyone, but particularly two women -- one of whom was my girlfriend, but I forgot she was my girlfriend, and saw her as just another goddess among the many in attendance that night.

I had just landed in Colorado from the Rainbow Gathering in Spokane. I didn't know anyone, when I suddenly ran into a friend from FL at Boulder Mall. He asked me what I was doing and if I wanted to go to a Dead Show. I told him I only had 8 bucks and he said that was enough. This show was the beginning of many interesting and wonderful experiences with the Dead. Feel Like a Stranger was such a perfect theme for how I was feeling at the time, it never ceases to amaze me how in sync my life was with this band. ____________________________________ Louder isn't necessarily better, it is just louder.

Would love to get a good-sounding copy of this show. A bunch of us came down from Boulder, all tripping like crazy, got inside when Roses was playing. Had a positively spiritual experience at the end of Terrapin when Jerry was playing alone to the stars.
