This place is the coolest. It looks like a circus tent. Ticketless, I could hear help>slip>franklin through the fence the previous night and it nearly ripped my heart out of my chest. But my soul was appeased on this night since: eyes, fire, box and terrapin ain't so bad. Such a great place to see a show.
This run of three shows were real good, actually remembering better now, they were awesome!.. The sound was excellent, the sun was shining, the people I loved most were there, my kid brother was having the time of his life, my best buddy taping the show and doing what tapers do, and I was with my darling girlfriend, and there were so many other lovely people we hung out with that day.. The vibe was exceptionally positive on the july the 3rd show.
Great first set!.. However short it was, it rocked. The jams during Bird Song were already second set jazzy. Samson is not one of my faves so I chatted away most of the beginning of the second set around the bar with various heads, but then it was a very unusual second set, and really took off! Great "Days in Between", very touching, probably the best version I heard to that day.. I copied those shows right away from my buddies' masters, and they sound real good even today although they are just second gen. audience, originally captured with Naks onto a Sony D7 through a Tascam portable mixer, if I am not mistaken.
After the show, following a beer run at a supermarket, we got pulled over by the boys heading to a friend's place near Palo Alto for the after party on 280 Northbound in a rental car! It was scary. And stressful! But we somehow got cleared up and were let go! Good thing, 'cause we was all chaRGED UP!!! With all due respect to the Mr Driver that day who did the talking with the boys..
