Holy Smoke...the Dead in the 'Noke!!!!!!
Not sure who made that sticker but it is still on my old tape case! Thanks! What a great show! One of my favorites. ..."nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile..." So many highlights... Duprees, Scarlet> Fire, He's Gone, Crazy Fingers, Comes a Time and so on! Everyone has their own experience, but this was one of the times I felt the energy of the band flowing strong...Jerry was dancin'. The venue was tiny compared to the stadiums on tour and the mountains surrounding the Roanoke Valley are powerful. Can't wait to get back up on Bent! After the show we were wandering around the Civic Center and a security guard gave me his back stage pass. I didn't have the where with all to actually try and use it and it was a while after the show, but I still have it with my stubs. Thanks, Man! We got back to the campground in Vinton safe and sound and the next morning Amy and Rachael were all in a dither. It was like 6am and they wanted/demanded a ride to the bus station. Their "practice for tour" had gotten the best of them and they were done....so they called a cab when I wouldn't roll out of the tent to accommodate them Talk about uptight...not sure if they ever saw another show but I never really saw them around again. No loss. This was still just the beginning for me...14th show.

jonesthewine....the night before was my first. The first night in Roanoke 1987. Didn't know what I was seeing, but it took about two minutes in parking lot when I said....I want to hang out with this crew....then the lights went down and BOOM....74 shows later we lost Jerry.
