My fist and last live show

I was 16 years old and the only dead song I have heard up to this point was “touch of grey”. It’s important to note that I was into much heavier music at the time. The show started and I remember thinking that they were playing country music, something that I disliked at the time. My friend and I were the only two people sitting down in the entire arena. A couple of heads saw us sitting down and came over to introduce themselves. We made a trade of some local produce we brought for some puffy paper there brought. I can still remember the song that was playing when everything changed. Scarlet/Fire. I have been a fan ever since and would love some type of footage from that show

We had arrived from Indiana only an hour before the show. Was arriving in town for a few days with tickets to the next evening only. Arrived at friend's home and his dad had gotten us some tix for this night. We left immediately.....ended up that we had obstructed view seats from virtually behind the band off to the right (they were free so we didn't care). Had no idea Hornsby played as he was the one person we couldn't see. I had commented all night how the keyboards were off of the chart!!! Little did I know. Amazing set list. The third night ended up being better for me only because my drugs that evening perfectly aligned with the music. After listening again to both recordings, I realize how fortunate I was to have gotten these extra unexpected tickets for this dynamite evening.

    Scarlet/Fire
I ran into a dear old friend on the concourse between sets, and my first words after "hello" were "Looks like I'm gonna get my Scarlet/Fire tonight...Jerry knows we're here.By Day's Between I was a complete puddle. Thank You, Jerry ;)

I was at this show,It also happened to be the second to last show that ever i attended. The last being the next night.Jerry was on fire on this night. The scarlet/fire is the hottest one i've ever heard. The more fire on the mountain went on,The more intense it became.Until jerry can be heard singing out FIRE in between the chorus of fire on the mountain. The corrina/matilda/jam was very hot.Bruce was a great complement to the band. And a so many roads and day between on the same night. How sweet is that.If you have this show in your collection pull it out,you will love it This was just an all around great show. Its just not the same without garcia...................................speedwayjc

My last show was the last night of the Charlotte shows. I had mono (sick as a dog) and had to drive us all up there (from Va. Beach) because I was the only one with a valid drivers license. Bitched the whole way too...heh heh heh...but boy, when the first notes of the first night kicked in, I was cured!! Thanks for sharing the memories, speedwayjc.

The best show of a three night stand. They really blew their wad this night. Left all my frinds in bad upper seats and made it to the floor. A very memorable show 30' back- center stage. I recall bruce staying on for a good portion of space. I always loved showing up at a show and seeing the baby grand on stage before things got started.

My one and only show. I was a senior in high school at the time. Opened my eyes to a WHOLE new world. The lot scene in particular. I just remember thinking, "I'm 17, that person just sold me a beer!" I also remember Jerry. The vocals were pretty gone at this point, but his guitar, oh his guitar, it was still there. I am so thankful I got to experience the Dead at least this one time. I will cherise the memories forever.
