Gate crashing
This really happened. I was in Boston visiting my sister and went over to BU to try to get in to the show. I learned right away that there were no tix available and I went over to where a large crowd of folks were standing outside the back door of the gym. As soon as I got there I saw the double doors open wide and lo and behold it was none other than Jerry himself holding it open. The surge of the crowd pushed me inside the arena before the officials could get over there to slam the doors shut. It was a GA show so my second Dead experience was provided compliments of you-know-who.
Chimps and chumps
This was the show where a group of chimpanzees warmed up the audience before the Dead came on. I am sure the chimps stole the show. I'd love to get a copy of their set!!

Up to this point all I had heard was Workingmans dead and expected to hear that version of songs........little did I know.Dont remember chimps
DO remember LOTS of people crashing in through doors behind stage
DO remember NRPS were terrific
wish I could find more downloads of their shows back then
then Dead came on and I was blown away......still am......still listening just about every day....
Do remember Candyman and what I found out later was the Other One......
My first as well
And chimps seem vaguely memorable - but we may not have been in the same universe. I do remember 6 of us holding hands to thread our way through the crowd to get in while at the same time holding our tickets in those same hot little hands. And I remember the noise from the crowd outside a couple of times during the show, but mostly what I remember is how incredible both NRPS and the Dead were. Hadn't expected the New Riders, so that was icing. Also remember that we had plenty of room on the court. Sweet start to a lot of years of great music.
