    First Dead Show
Buffalo Memorial stadium. Saw some great stuff in that old rock pile. But this was my first Dead Show and you know what they say about your first.

Franklin's Tower brought me into the fold
This was my first show. My neighbors in college were deadheads and I heard a lot of their music, but didn't experience it until a gf invited me with her siblings and parents to attend. She sort of dumped me to go hang out with another guy, and I was pretty confused by everything that was going on, given the state of my mind at the time. But that second set, Dancin' finally grabbed me by the ears and wouldn't let go. When they went into Franklin, I felt the love and that was the moment I connected with the band. Everything was fine after that, and while I never called myself a Deadhead, I became a member of the family that night. A bunch of us descended on Niagara Falls after the show, completely overwhelming the park patrol. Met some kind folks on the edge of the falls, fortunately nobody went over that night. We were sure close enough.

    My Last War Memorial show
Farewell to War Memorial; I think they finally tore it down. But the Dead tore it down on this night. The Dancin into Franklin's about split the floor in two. This show was amazing, and great fun. I started out at Washington Square Lounge listening to Sinatra, then made my way over to hang by the doors. By the time I got inside I had a head full of paisley. The Dead put on a show for the ages this night. Such incredible music. The double-fisted opener of Alabama>Promised Land was a taste of things to come, and it only got better. One of the best Wharf Rats I ever emoted to. This show really lifted my spirits out of the dumps. So glad some of it has been immortalized on Road Trips Vol 1, #2. The next night I saw Bobby Blue Bland and B.B. King at Shea's. What a wealth of music. And yes, Bland's band did Lovelight.

This was my first show. Went from Potsdam (Clarkson College) with 9 of my fraternity brothers. I remember standing on a chair on the floor for most of the show. "he's gone" was the best. "Steal your face right off your head". I figure I went 60 more times until my last show 8/4/94.

Do you remeber those things hanging down from the ceiling in that place. We decided to go to the Dead's hotel that night. We get lost wandering the streets of Buffalo and we go into a police station!!!! to ask for directions. I bought Phil a beer that night (heinekin) and I remember some crazy girl was chasing a very spaced out Brent.

Jerry opened up the 2nd set with about an hour of Dancin into Franlin's Tower. I was at this show with a number of friends from SUNY Brockport. These friends did not know the dead, I talked them into going. They just could not beleve how tight this band rocked. But for me the Dancin Franlin was the sound I got used to and would drive thousands of miles to hear. Jerry was the best, Phil was the BOM, lots of fun for us. Which I could go do that again!

Loved this show. Came from Ithaca with my dream girl, who had never seen the Dead. It was magical. With the exception of Easy to Love You and I Need a Miracle, the set list was phenomenal. Locked the keys in my car- had to find a hotel for the night. Sleazebag dump, didn't get laid, lost the girl. But, hey, it was 28 years ago. I had 25 years of work to find my true dream girl. I'm truly sorry I can't take her to see the Dead. So I took her to see Phil. Can't wait to hear the CD.
