    2nd Show

Unfortunately due to a late train I missed most of the first set arriving during Promised land. I don't remember anything about his show as the 10/16 nightfall of diamonds show a few days earlier was my first show and stands out more. i only remember the Promised land and my long train journey from Boston to get there.

I was one of the many that was assuming that promised was the first set closer, but I can still remember the sudden quiet that fell upon us all wondering what is this ? and by the end of Cali. Earthquake there was not a dry eye around.

I remember liking this show better than the night before. I think Jerry had a complete and total meltdown during Fire. The lyrics completely escaped him. But the rest of the show was well played. I really had fun during the first set as I got two of my favorites, Candyman and Stagger Lee.

I remember trying to understand why the heck they were playing a song about an earthquake until my brain could put it all together. Brent was awesome at this show and I really like the way he belted out his songs. It was also nice to hear Stagger Lee. cheers

I remember being afraid to move - our seats were so far up. But, hey, at least we got to be there, right?! I also remember them wishing Brent a happy birthday. His birthday was the next day.Liz

89 was the highlight of my 75 or so shows. From JFK in the summer to the end of this run of Philly shows, the boys were simply on fire. This is an overlooked gem. I have intense memories of the MASSIVE Other One they dropped this night. Between this and the Dark Star on 10/09 I felt like, at 17, I was back in 1968. Incredible stuff!
