What a breath of fresh air!

I had had such a bad night the night before. I was tired and out of money. I was in the show but we didn't have enough money to get to the next show let alone gas $ for the drive down to NC afterward. I got in the show and I was going up to my seat on the right side (stage left) and I looked down and saw the this dollar bill. I picked it up and inside was like $40. Wow, what a ground score. The rest of the night went this way for me. The show was sparkling. Great Sage and Spirit jam. Scarlet>Fire>UJB was heavenly. Just lots of energy. I was back on the bus. If that was your coin, know that it went to a great cause. It wasn't pissed away that is for sure. Peace,

Dougles

And the sun does shine

What a night.New energy from the night before. Home town show for me as I was at Clark U. Sat in the 2nd row right between brent and Jerry. It was Brents birthday. Just good old grateful dead. Great energy all night. So lucky to be there with so many friends. From music start to uncle john's it was subline or just f...in grate. It was your tipical really good grateful dead show just shy of monumental. I enjoyed this night more than the weeks before shows in Hartford. They could have played St. Stephen but it never happened and the song disapeared from the repitoire. It was still a wonderful night and the band was tight and on!

Spirit

I learned a great deal about the spirit and Joy of Grateful Dead music from John G.
I know he travelled with me mainly because I never asked him for gas money...but I never met anyone at the time who was so enthusiastic about the music.
I don't know where he is now, but being with him back then...in the early days of my touring....it helped me understand the beauty of it all.
I recall being with him in the upper level of this show when they started (very quietly) with first notes of Music Never Stopped. He knew instantly what it was and yelled "MUSIC !"
laughed and then just started dancing.
John was a Deadhead in every sense of the word. I learned so much from his spirit.

Thank You John......

I do thank you very much for kindness Dave. Those days back then seem like a completely different life time.

Sage and Spirit theme

They also dropped subtle hints of this theme during the later part of Space at Merriweather 6-26-84...
