    hey now..
My parents used to take me to radio city music hall for events over the years. Hadn't been to the hall in a few years. First night seeing the dead on this run of shows. The venue was one of the finest I saw the dead play in over the years. Acoustics, the grand stage and the elegance of the lobby made you stand straighter and thank the dead for picking the venue. Acoustic set was pleasantly different than what I expected. Each member was on stage playing on each song. It had a homey feeling. Electric sets were enjoyable too. Seats in the first few rows of the first balcony gave an overview of the floor. The orchestra pit between the dead and the audience was odd. I thought of it as a sort of a buffer zone. Wonder if the band thought it odd.

Phil tried to stop Bob from playing Estimated Prophet again
If you listen to the tape the band starts and then abruptly stops Estimated Prophet. I was at this show and what was happening is Phil was waving his hand because he didn't want to play it. The band had a quick conference in which Bob Weir won out and the did it. Lesh had the crowd behind him since they were playing Estimated so often. I went to the 25 & 26 and the week before I went to the Saenger Theater shows in New Orleans. The Radio City shows were all three abbreviated sets because of the 11pm curfew while the Saenger shows were three full length ones each night.

second night at Radio City Music Hall. I don't remember too much about it. It was so long ago and early in my Deadhead Career. I know I had fun and my scrapbook has a few of the B/W photos I took.

Although I have heard these shows criticized, I went to three of them and loved them. The acoustic sets really stand out in my memory and I seem to recall that during this run I heard a number of tunes for the only time.
