The only reason I didn't give this great show five stars is because despite having woven the PITB theme throughout the entire show they never actually finished it! It could have been the ultimate salute to the tune if they had finished the song. *No one had any idea what Touch of Gray was when they encored with it either!

this is the show that put touch of grey out..and as an encore.. at the time it did not seem wild, but after a few more shows you realized how ballsy that was to do

I got to this show late and walked in to the spaciest jazz jam imaginable. My first thought was - What happened? How late are we? Soon I noticed the unmistakable melody of Playin' and then the opening notes to... Crazy Fingers! Amazing! Also a great Let It Grow in the 1st set.

Very mellow show, too mellow, kinda boring, especially after seeing The Who the week before. Then the encore, a great new song called "Touch of Grey" - WOW! What was that?!

Well, there ain't much I can say about my 1st show except...Welcome to Shakedown Street Boy!!!! This was an incedible evening for me as I had NO IDEA what I was about to experience. I finally undestood the meaning of the SYF symbol. My head was gone! ( \/\ : ) XOXOXOXO L/S

My sister took me to this show (and every other one I saw). It took me a long time (until Telluride, really) to get the special-ness of a Dead show. Of course, the music kept drawing me back, but I couldn't see beyond the surface for a long time. I seem to recall that in this show there was a whole lot of Good Lovin' rhythm bouncing around Billy and Micky throughout the second set, and what really blew me away was that they kept the beat going throughout the whole set.

I really enjoyed the first set. Every song. To open with Playin into Crazyfingers was great. Rooster, Dupree's, BIODTL, and escpesially It must have been the roses. Roses has always been one of my favorites. Then Let it grow and Day Job.Another favorite is Shakedown and then a lovely rendition of Sailor-Saint. To top it off they encore with Touch of grey which really got crowd excited. I'm so glad I was there. Gone are the days.

This was far from my favorite show. For me the highlight was Dupree's Diamond Blues. Had a very strange experience driving back to VA afterwards. We were stuck in construction hell on a road with only one lane, no shoulder and construction dividers on either side. There was a black sedan in front of me and a camper in front of them. There was someone in a suit leaning out the window of the car and the side door of the camper opened and someone leaned out. They were pointing at each other. Then I realized they weren't pointing their fingers. I slowed down immediately, but the car behind me almost hit me and the driver leaned on the horn. Eventually the camper pulled off, the sedan followed, I got out of there fast.

I attended the previous nite's show in Charlottesville Va. (where I lived) when I had gotten 2 tix for each nite by selling my TV to a radio DJ there...(♫ I need a miracle ♫ )...I found a ride to both shows from a buddy who also had a huge bag of 'Shrooms...I was going to need it. I had broken my ankle the previous weekend playing softball, so it was crutches & a cast to both shows...AAARGH! The 1st show was outstanding but hard dealing with crutches in a crowd. At the end of the show we were zoomin' thru the Universe and decided the easiest way to the next nite's show would be to park behind THE BUS and follow it to the next show. WHEE... bona-fide Grateful Groupies now...I mean I had done plenty of shows in a row back in north-east Jersey (Kearny, 7 miles west of NYC) where i'm from, but, to actually follow DA BUS!!! We kept snacking on the 'shrooms till the bus suddenly took off, the cars owner said he was incapable of driving so I took over...to this day I remember the painted lines on the Highway saying my name over & over as I drove by them. All went well until we hit Landover and I got caught at a red lite and lost the bus. We spent most of the day remembering how to talk to ask for directions from space aliens. Lo and behold, we finally made it with a little time to spare before the show started. WOW, what a pair of days that ended up being for me & my ole' buddy Stich

My buddy and I were on a two day 'Shroom Fest there ( & Charlottesville)..it was INCREDIBLE.

Has anyone else noticed that this is the strongest Stella Blue of the entire Fall tour? Same with the spiraling, build-up, jam in Saint of Circumstance. Best of the tour.

My head shop owner / bosses were aghast that I had never seen the Dead
Iive, and they took me to this show. My luck to hear the first Touch of Grey.
