    a gift
I remember this show as a gift, on several fronts: the Spectrum was tight as a drum that night, and I got my miracle. Missed the opening two songs and still caught a 7-song first set (those were the days!)......and that set included the only Big Boss Man and only Brother Esau (last one on the East coast ever, as it turned out) that I'd ever see. Also only my 2nd, and last, High Time. What's more, a rare 2nd set Hell In a Bucket and even rarer a la carte Fire to follow! Yes, this was one of those hoarse nights for Jerry ~ his vocal chords can barely make it through Fire. But he was quite present musically, as a smoking Bird Song -> Promised Land attest, and this is arguably the hottest Hell in the Bucket ever. The stand opener at Hampton the following Spring sure gave it a run for its money though (and is probably my sentimental favorite). Great setlist, and a great time. I remember this one fondly. But why I didn't accompany that girl I danced to for the first set down onto the floor for the next set (she seemed disappointed that I didn't), I'll never know.......... Perhaps I was just Grateful and knew I was rolling in pennies from heaven already!

    My very 1st show
What can i say I was blown away. First year of college in philly. Back when all the folks could camp out for free in the park across from JFK. I remeber seeing U2 the day before or was it the day after and I was just wondering what all the comotion was about. I tried acid and stayed in the park for 2 days. Hooked ever since. God to be 18 again

Harsh voice, but its the last show of an extremely powerful fall '87 run.A pretty diverse song order and collection... Would have been an ok show, but 3 things took up notch: 2nd row center; smack in front of Bobby Jerr Ber staring us down during Big Boss Man Feeling the spit from Esau......have it in a jar still ;) Cheers! This show had a different feel in the first set that TR and I dubbed the "Texas Show", with Minglewood, High Time, Big River and Especially Big Boss Man, and Jerry's voice so rough for the Boss Man, that was killer! In the second set, Bobby advised "Be sure to watch plenty of TV, you might see this one on it" before Hell in a Bucket. Eternal Consciousness Enjoyin the Ride, Haybrown

I really enjoyed the two previous shows and drove back and forth to Bloomsburg, PA for each show (couldn't miss class). I may have made class in body, but my mind was still somewhere else.I have always found a way to get a ticket one way or another, but not this night, We could hear the music a little from the outside, but it made for a longer ride home.
