... didn't give this show five stars wasn't a real deadhead. I wore out two copies of this tape.
We took the sunrise flight out of newark airport on people express airlines $38.00 round trip. and what a trip. when we reached cruising altitude the entire cabin filled wiyh that stinging aroma of the finest bud available promting the captain to get on the P.A. and request that smoking be "limited to cigarettes only".
Once in buffalo we were making our way to the statler hilton when we were approached by a local who asked us if we were going to see Jeffery Garcia. When we replied in the affirmative he suggested we head souf and be quick about it. Roger that. Not a nice chap at all.
So we made our way through what looked like armageddon to our hotel.
What a great show it was, one of the last "good ole" grateful dead shows in a sense. The road crew were late, the hockey game went into overtime and we got to watch the stage being assembled. well worth every minute. i obtained a soundboard decades later and confirmed what a smokin' show it truly was.
Back at the airport the next day we comandeered a vacant ticket counter and proceeded to access the computer and type out and post throughout the terminal the set list from the show to everyone's bewilderment.
What i would give for another go at that.
rolling stones the next day @ Rich Stadium....great weekend. peoples express air was $20 from ny to buff...good deal.

Third show and first roadtrip - 8 hours north from Jersey. Remember older tourheads talking about scaling the side of the building for entry. Thinking, wow, these folks are really into it. Who'd have thunk that be me shortly thereafter. Shakedown began and a rush to the floor drew all security away from us and able to hop down and score a 6th row chair. Boy were those nosebleed seats steep. It was good to get down and start groovin.
You know your lucky when you look back over the years and realize you went to shows that everyone raves about stil to this day.Back before I knew how much these guys would play such a roll in my life. Young and full of energy.
My first show. I'd never experienced such a thing as that mass of incredible people and Those Drumz thundering that cavernous building apart. Many years passed before I heard a copy of this show or saw the setlist, but it made me immediately grateful that this was my first cannonball into the pool.
