In the Grateful Dead days, it was always fun to see the band after they hadn’t played for a few weeks, because even inveterate set list analysts were hard-pressed to predict what they might play the first night back, and whatever rotational habits they might have gotten into during a tour had similarly been obliterated. It was a clean slate.

I remember back in the late ’80s, when the big invasion came after “Touch of Grey,” Garcia used to talk about the Dead possibly being shut out of many venues because of bad fan behavior.
The second set jam this night is unique both in terms of the tour and the greater Grateful Dead history, featuring three three Garcia-sung songs in a row: "Uncle John's Band>Wharf Rat>Dark Star." All three are top notch, and "Wharf Rat" was quite a rarity on this tour, so this is a nice treat.

This is installment 3 of 5...
Not sure yet how many DVDs this will be, probably 3 or 4. Had to fit Halloween on considering we're coming up on the 35th anniversary of that show...
