A great show. I had already seen the Dead several times before but this was a unique show as the Dead and the New Riders played for nearly 6 hours. The Eastown was not the best musical venue in Detroit but it was one of the most colorful ones with its open drug market going on in the balcony. I got to the show early and there was hardly anyone there yet, and the Dead were on stage testing the acoustics of the building by playing Jack Straw; the harmonies were incredible. I had the chance to talk to Jerry and Phil. The show seemed to go on seamlessly from the Dead rehearsal to the New Riders back to the Dead again.
