Shows I caught at the Omni in Atlanta

Again, in no particular order(well maybe) 4/3/90, my next to the last show by the Dead, and in hindsight, the last show where Brent played in Atlanta. It was a great show, a great Dylan cover of Masterpiece and one of my favorite jams, Row Jimmy. I "had to" write down the last parts of Set2 (you know, compulsions?) starting with a great Brent I Will Take You Home , followed by GDTRFB, Throwing Stones, and Not Fade Away. Then closing with Goodnight (Iwas ecstatic!); 12/12/73, my second Dead show, a much better experience than the 71 show at Municipal(but that's a tale for another day) there had been a much anticipated "Release Party" on local FM station WREK of Wake of the Flood a month or so before the show and I had a "state of the art"(lol) reel to reel player version I played to death(did I mention I love this album?) I had seats in 2nd row right in front of Jerry due to a hookup in the ticket office at Rich's(thanks Nancy!) and took some great B&W shots with my new camera of Jerry w/o beard. I particularly enjoyed They Love Each Other in the 1st set and in the 2nd set we (finally)got Mississippi Toodleloo, Row Jimmy (a favorite of mine, did I mention?), Weather Report and Eyes of the World!; 6/2074 - Wall of Sound! from the 7th row(thanks again Nancy) nice mix of tunes that hit a lot of my favorites from Europe72 & Skull and Roses, with China Doll placed near the very end following Eyes of the World, but closed out with Saturday Night; 3/24/88 mixed set, loved Queen Jane cover, 2nd set closed out with Terrapin/Drums/Space/Truckin'/Miracle/Wharf Rat/Lovelight, then Black Muddy River for encore . Picked up kids really late on Thurs nite at my Mom's house; 3/2/92, next to last show ever for me at Omni(last was an okay Clapton show) and unknown to me, last time to see the Dead. Another favorite Dylan cover of Masterpiece in first set, my wife love Man Smart, Women Smarter(!) in 2nd set and the blue lights came up for Stella Blue with another great cover of Knockin On Heaven's Door as the finale.

Shows I Caught at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta

In no particular order, just by great memories or the ticket stubs in my box, 4/20/77(which ended up being rescheduled a month or so later); 4/10/78 - Ship of Fools & Franklin's Tower, my late 70s favorite tunes; 4/29/80(another welcome Spring show!) with Lost Sailor/Saint of Circumstance and Terrapin!; 10/29/85, as far as I can remember, the last show in the intimate confines of the Fox, had to leave early 3 month old daughter at parent's house.

Much of my prejudice does come from having attended the most amazing show of all my shows here. 11/30/80. This is a wonderful acoustic friendly theater. As you enter, all of the decor has an Egyptian flair to it. When you enter the hall you look up and there are stars twinkling in the ceiling. Definitely not a bad seat in the house. Wonderful.
