You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand.
Each day, the first person to guess the venue & date correctly will get a Road Trips of their choice. If you’re not first but you've answered correctly, you will also be automatically entered for a weekly prize of THE WARNER BROTHERS STUDIO ALBUMS VINYL BOX (EXCLUSIVE EDITION) or a FORMERLY THE WARLOCKS boxed set. Log in now and enter to win! - Less Info
My best guesses.

I'm feelin' an "Around And Around" for 11-30. Not saying I'm dying for one, but I have an inkling....
I don't think so. If you look at the songs, not a single one was written by anyone other than Dead people, so there are no issues regarding royalties to be paid for giving the songs away for free. I guess that's where there was no Lovelight.
On My Hands And My Knees.....I Will Roll, Roll, Roll.
Good Luck All!!
Let's Puff!!!
Well, this has been fun. I'm gonna miss it for sure. Good luck to everybody.
has to be a fave - even if it's mostly one channel
:]
Canyon Critter, Thanks for the great pictures. The last 2 with moving images are really cool. I am using the camping one as my desktop background with flickering fire and all.
I don't think the acoustic list you posted will help for today's Uncle John's Band. Today's is an acoustic encore to an electric show. I do not see the show in the list or in the linked articles.
Hahaha. Having received the mail regarding the subscription, I assumed (on the basis of past experiences here) that free shipping would mean free shipping within the US and standard shipping less the cost of standard US shipping to the rest of the planet. Having seen a few posts suggesting otherwise, I decided to check it out for myself. Firstly the $95.50 price for the next four RT's is pretty much the price of current RT's x4. Now they cost $23.98, which would be $95.92, so you save 42 cents by taking the subscription. Wow. As regards the shipping, to me here in the Netherlands, the quoted prices were $180.11 (Standard) and $89.70 (Rush). Obviously the standard shipping rate is just a bad joke, but even the rush rate is significantly more than the cheapest rate for four individual RT's. It is stated that "Due to the weight of your order, Rush shipping, via UPS, may be less expensive than our standard US Postal Service international shipping method." The catch here is that good old USPS packages come straight to my door whereas the loathsome UPS deliver packages into the evil hands of the local customs. They levy about 35% import duty and sales tax on both the cost of the goods and the shipping cost (!) but that is not the end - UPS also add a charge for presenting the package to customs. I cannot be bothered to work it all out exactly, but I estimate that the rush shipping with extra charges, duties, levies etc. it would cost at least as much as with standard shipping, i.e. around $275 in total. I, along with the rest of the world outside the US, will not be purchasing a subscription and would humbly suggest that, in the name of solidarity, US residents also ignore this kind and cynical offer.
That said, I offer my heartfelt thanks to the people at Rhino who were kind enough to give us these wonderful November downloads free of charge. For that gesture I am truly thankful and Grateful. I hope they come up with more "promotions" like this, but I hope that in the future they can offer shipping costs (outside the US) that can be considered realistic.
I'll pass this along. I've inquired what's up on this.
...acting as the US shipping agent for the folks overseas, and still save the final recipients half of this silly S/H.
Thanks for noticing my rant and passing it on to the powers that be. I hope they take note. You may recall that similar shipping cost "anomalies" have occurred in the past - and have been rectified (in no small part due to your intervention, I suspect). It is comforting to know that you are still watching over us all.
Thanks for the links to the b versions everybody.
Thanks for the artwork Canyon Critter. I used the second from bottom one. My personal favorite of the bunch.
I just placed my order for the RT subscription. Nice to know I'll get them as they come out in one transaction as well as the bonus disc.
Patiently awaiting to pre-order the re-issue of the FW '69 Complete Recordings Box.........someday.
Thanks for another one, Dead Net!

Looks like they posted early today..... And here I thought I actually might have been the first to send in my "guess". (^_^) What a fun contest. They sure got some of us heads doing some strange stuff just to win a CD!
and like the wind you go
Great version here. VERY early, maybe the first???!!! Set-ender and the announcement at the end about hopefully seeing everyone the upcoming weekend might be the giveaway here (Altamont?)
Very much enjoying today's selection. No complaints here!
Love to all y'all,
Matt
On
Piece of cake. Love the acoustic. Hopefully a monster S/F or Eyes to round it out tomorrow.
beautiful reading of Uncle John's Band by Jerry and the band, awesome acoustic version, with only one guitar, early 1970, wonderful, just wonderful, thanks Dead net for the great tunes.
Day Job!!!!
Thanks to all involved, us foreigners can't enter the competition but the music is hugely appreciated.
Didn't I tell you we were getting an UJB? I knew because I DL'd it on the 7th or thereabouts.

Uncle Johns Band!!!
Love It!!!
Thank you!!!
Cheers!!!
Couldn't be happier! Thanks all!
Wharf Rat, please!!!???!!!!???
Thanks dead.net for this sweet acoustic gem. This song means a lot to me. I had an Uncle John, with whom I used to quote Grateful Dead lyrics back and forth across the table at family gatherings. He passed away around this time last year. Listening to this song I am reminded of all those memories like a sunshine daydream of a time when that empty seat at the table was not quite so empty.
-Peace & love
I'm a huge fan of the early acoustic sets, in fact I started a petition for Furthur to do one acoustic set this year @ Red Rocks LOL.

Besides this you should check out this article written on acoustic sets and lists almost all of the ones they did in 69-70 with a bunch of archive links as well.

How about a "Scarlet Begonias > Fire On The Mountain" from the 95 tour to close it up, round it out... I'm just sayin'. Not tryin' to be greedy or anything, but that would do it for me. This entire month has been an absolute blessing and I am nothing but grateful for every tune and trip down memory lane. Thank you for everything, I can't believe it ends tomorrow.
Peace.
-Rob.
the last song, the grand finale of the month, should be something really, really special. A song that utterly epitomizes the dead and sums up 40+ years of brilliant songwriting and musical creation. A song that is unanimously associated with the group and that is clearly the best representation of everything they accomplished musically, creatively, and in terms of the spirit of the band and those that followed them:
Samba in the Rain.
Aint no time to hate,
Barely time to wait.
Whoa oh what I want to know,
where does the time go?
So sad this is almost over. Very nice. Love the acoustic version. Thank you, Thank you.
I'm getting sound primarily out of my right headphone, which is a major clue. Aha, now around 2 min. 30 sec. there is a minor correction happening, but not completely. Awesome, awesome awesome choice of a never heard version of an often heard song! Check out the super mellow acoustic version on the taper's section, too, it will cure what ails ya.
honestly this has brightened all of my mornings, it makes me not want november to end:)
I want to say thank you. thank you so much for everything...
"like the morning sun you come and like the wind you go"
I'm having a hard time figuring out today's selection for some reason - anyone want to throw me a bone?
What a silky rendition of UJB. I found it in my collection, too. Just started at the first one and worked my way through till I got there. Yeah, would have liked to have seen THAT run! But I was 4 & 1/2 years old and 200 miles away! Like when my Mom and my uncle went to Woodstock, my brother and I stayed home with Dad. Blissfully I had no idea what I was missing. Thanks for the past 29 days, looking foreward to tomorrow!
Day Job!

It almost gets the bad taste of this "Road Trips Subscription" email out of my mouth.
Not gonna post a steaming heap of negativity here (but I might on yesterday's since there's already a few comments there - if anybody reads the old threads), but I sure hope they open a comments forum on that "item" page in the store.
One of the nicest tracks in the whole 30 days. Now, tomorrow... And We Bid You Goodnight? Lovelight? Wharf Rat?
