30 Days of Dead November 5
Peace love & the Grateful Dead! NothZing better than 1966 Grateful Dead goodness. They were so young raw and full of that crackling psychedelic energy.
Please, GDF, release more 1966! Please!
Love this song. Took a stab at guessing and probably got it wrong, but in my hunting I came across 11/19/66 which is a real gem. Rocked out to that one earlier today.
I've heard Widespread Panic cover this on XM23 several times. I'm not a big WSP fan, but loved their version. It sounds like a studio recording. Does anyone know what release it is on, assuming it's on one? (A quick google search didn't have the answer immediately available as far as I could tell.)
Yes, a tricky one... It's a good thing for some of those helpful hints! Thanks! ;-)
"Wait a minute, watch what you're doing with your time?"
Spending some of my time trying to figure out the 30 Days of tunes. Thanks again for the great music! Wish it was all year round...
Internet Archive did not help me select this one today. I used the program www.setlists.net
The clue that helped me was at the end of today's track! Just gotta poke around.
I spent all day patiently pondering this one, and thanks to some great clues, I got it right. It's really true: you just gotta poke around!
The 7/3/66 lead from setlists helped; however, due to no other reliable confirmation, I selected a show from a different date.
I'm usually pretty good at this. I can NOT find this anywhere on archive.org
Some are saying it's there but I disagree. I've checked every version I can find on the site and the guitar solo is different on each one. Any other clues out there? This will drive me nuts!!!
I agree, not convinced this song is on there. I've also listened to every single version on there, some of them multiple times. All I can say is, be sure to read the discussions at the bottom of the shows you think it may be from on archive.org. There's some info that sheds a little more light on this particular show. Think I got it, but its a real thinker on this one. I love
it though. Its had me listening to a lot of early stuff today
I believe part of the show is on archive, but not this song in particular? I could be wrong, but like I said, with a little digging, I think I found the key clue and am pretty comfortable with my guess. I want to help you guys, but I don't want to give it away (I also don't want to misdirect anybody). I guess I can say that I found my answer by reading show notes more than by actually searching setlists for the song.
Do you guys use deadlists? For some reason putting in Cream Puff War did NOT pull up all the versions in setlists.
Hey, when was the first year dead.net did 30 days? Just curious.
2010, I believe--
After I select the download MP3 button I cannot locate the song. Where do the music go ? I do not have iTunes currently available.
Go to your start menu and type "creampuff" in the search box - when it comes up, rightclick on it and hit "open containing folder". Depending on your computer system, that should get you to it. You'll be able to drag it to your desktop, or anywhere else at that point.
Thank you! This has become such a great tradition…always a pleasure.
Peace be to everyone.
It's the ones we think will be easy that end up being the hardest. I don't have a clue.
tricky one, hopefully its not some already released version
...is in there I believe. It sure is tricky though, and takes a little more legwork...
Definitely not in my deadbase X. Took a little bit to find, just had to go through my collection to find it. It is on the archive.org site as well.
I'd like to add my vote to that this version in not on archive.org
Can't find this one
Well, not that many dates to choose from here.
I think I have a good guess.
In the land of the dark, the ship of the sun is driven by the..
Back in 2011 I managed to download all 30 days' worth, then missed last year. I'm playing along again, but I forgot to get yesterday's Sugaree. Can somebody help out an old head with a link? Thanks.
I just saw the block to the right that lists the past days. Hey, the Sixties were a little rougher on some of us than others. Have a Grateful day.
Love ALL the early stuff ! Thank you. More Pigpen Please!
This one messed with me but I think I figured it out by filling in the blanks....
and I also hope this means that the whole show will get released.
Great versions of some early material, some individual tracks released on various projects.
Not really sure how the hint helps direct you to the show, but if I am right I am listening to it right now.
Dig the Pig at the Gig!
Has two venues within its walls. 1) The Music Hall, which holds about 2000 people and 2) the Public Hall, which holds about 10000 people. I would assume that by 1980 they would be playing the larger room considering they were playing places like The Spectrum in Phily, which holds about 18000. So, all this being accurate, the Music Hall would be the only wrong answer. I would think that Public Hall would be accepted too, since it is also correct.
.....that under "shows & lyrics" dead.net lists the venue Cleveland Public Hall on 08/26/1980, but the winning answer was Cleveland Public Auditorium. Since they are two separate venues, can this be corrected? By the way - nice curve ball.
I've just been through all of the available Cream Puff Wars, and this matches none of them. The setlist isn't even available. How is this fair? :-(
Got to love that funky old organ.
So, I'm confused. They list the correct answer as Cleveland Public Auditorium. Pretty much everywhere I looked I found Cleveland Public Hall. Does that mean my answer was considered incorrect or were they both correct?
This monolith contains both the Auditorium and Music Hall. Your guess of Public Hall should be acceptable by the contest administrator.
I am a huge fan of 66 GD, this sounds like a June/July of 1966 version. I really don't think this is something that was heavily if ever circulated. I have EVERY circulated 1966 GD show and I just went through them all, I can't find this version. That would be amazing if there is a new uncirculated 66 show that can be released.
Peace love and the Grateful Dead!!!
i think this one might not be on the archive!?!
hard to be sure on this one, might have to just take a stab. love the sound from these shows, like know you rider, so AM radio.
finally we get! awesome tune
i shoulda taken rrot's advice yesterday; actually went with http://www.dead.net/show/august-26-1980
oh, well, never trust a Prankster, nothin' left to do but smile.
I was taken in myself! Maybe they counted it as correct anyway?
Finally something from the EARLY days!!
Might be the Earliest since 30 Days started!
