30 Days of Dead November 8
------ TURN OFF FUTURE & FORM -----
It's with deep appreciation and gratitude for you, the fans, that we'll be giving away an MP3 download every day this month. That's 30 days of unreleased Grateful Dead tracks from the vault, selected by Dead archivist and producer David Lemieux! Intrigued? We're also going to put your knowledge to the test and give you the chance to win some sweet swag from the Dead.
Guess the venue and date correctly and you'll be automatically entered to win our Grand Prize - a prize pack featuring our 2014 releases, merch, and more.
Someone else may have commented, but this UJB was a repeat from Nov downloads in 2010 or 2011.....wasn't it???? I show this song/date in one of my other folders.
was this not released as the 29th day in 2011? or am i mistaken? Great song anyway
Hey, that's me! How do I claim my prize?
that i know of,, it changed to a grand prize raffle for a person that can get all 30 correct. and i do believe there is another contest for anybody who answered correctly during the month,, not sure ,, if somebody can clarify further ? i was fortunate enough to win a daily prize last year Warlocks box, but i already owned the set. oh well an unopened copy of Fall 89' will be welcomed as a trade for anybody who wants to trade for Dave's Vol. 1 with bonus disc or 3 with a bonus disc ? would make a nice xmas gift .
UJB redux from 30 Days of the Dead in 2010
who am I kidding? great job, love this resource, I just figured I'd make the observation
repeat from another year. still great tho!!!!!
Still can't download - try a different browser
I haven't been able to get the rules to display (for some reason clicking on the link for them keeps leading to a page-not-found error).
I had a heck of a time trying to figure out yesterday's answer. Not that I'm complaining about that - the occasional stiff challenge is all part of the fun. I finally got it though, in what I -thought- was just the "nick" of time. I loaded up the entry page and it was still displaying the download info for W LA Fadeaway, so I thought I'd just made it. I entered my guess (correct, as it turned out).
But, just after I entered my guess, the page reloaded, thanking me for entering for "that day", but now displaying the download info for today's UJB. Rut roh! I suspect that appearances to the contrary, I may have -just- missed a timely entry for yesterday's track, no matter what was displayed when I entered it.
My question is, did my entry then count as an entry for TODAY'S UJB??? In which case, it would obviously have been wrong, since it was the info for yesterday's track. I had no more time to fuss around with it last night (had to hit the hay).
Came back today, and found today's track much easier to identify (in my experience, sometimes that's just the "luck of the draw"). However, when I tried to enter what I'm pretty certain is the correct date/venue/etc., I saw a message displayed saying I could only "enter once per day". Has this always displayed, and I just never noticed it before? Or am I getting "ripped off" for what should have been a correct entry and another chance at the grand prize?
If I was late with yesterday's entry, I can understand and live with the idea that I just missed my chance (sometimes that happens). But, given that the Fadeaway info was still being displayed on the page, it seems unfair if my attempt to make an entry for that was instead counted as an entry for the UJB that wasn't YET displaying on the page.
In other words, it seems fair enough to me that, if I -was- late (and it would have been pretty close), I should have missed ONE chance. It doesn't seem as fair if it cost me TWO chances in one swell foop.
Do/does the Judge/Judges read these comments? Any chance of an appeal?
It just goes to show, you don't ever know. Watch each card you play...
The time cut off is 3am Eastern or 12am West. The download from today is great, seems like this could be the preview for Dave's 10. And by the way. Disc 1 from 11-30-80 is fabulous , Top Notch Loser. the Matrix mix is a treat. somebody described it as the dead in 3D. Just listened to the opening combo on disc 2 Sailor > Saint as the sun was setting very early in the east coast, while driving around. What a treat that was as well. Dave's 8 was timed perfect for the season it was released in
Here's my half a dollar if you dare
Double twist when you hit the air
I ran down to the levee but the devil caught me there
He took my twenty dollar bill and vanished in the air
Since it costs a lot to win, and even more to lose,
You and me bound to spend some time wondrin what to choose
Last fair deal in the country, sweet Suzy
Last fair deal in the town
Put your gold money where your love is, baby
Before you let my deal go down
Thanks so much for this. Will there be a list of songs and locations? Again thanks so much for the Music
on the top right corner of the page, that's the box for the previous songs, i think that's the list, also, deadroots.net has the last three years of the 30 days series. cheers
I've got this from a previous 30 Days of Dead
Seriously, I hate to be a grouch but every track this year except West L.A. Fadeaway has appeared before, in some cases every year since this great gift's inception and now it seems we have an actual repeat of a version of a song we got a couple of years back.
Why no Eyes of the World, a full Weather Report Suite, Mississippi Half Step, Terrapin????
Again I hate to complain but within two bars of this one I knew we'd gotten it last year or the year before.
Still can't download - most strange and perplexing not to metion disappointing, bewildering and confusing. I am befuddled and bamboozled by the lack of UJB downloading skills I obviously am....lacking.
I see...... persistence is the key. I have sharpened my index finger and Voila! Dowmload successful!!
...some interesting stage banter leading into this one.
"It's the same story the crow told me, it's the only one he knows…"
Sounds familiar…Thanks for the 30 Days, but I feel like I've been here before…where does the time go??
With the plethora of material to choose from, I am surprised that we are seeing songs already represented in previous years. The exact same performance of "New Minglewood Blues" was just used last year, for crying out loud!
Date: anybody's choice.
I really suck at this. A lot.
If you get confused, listen to the music play.....
Last night when I got home from work I looked through every UJB (I thought) that fit where this should've come from...couldn't find it. Today, first click. Haha, must've skipped over this date accidentally. What are the odds?!?!
I did the same thing, went through what I thought were all the options and didn't find it, then went back and it was obvious. Slaps forehead.
One guitar, a pair of sticks, and three voices. How has this not been officially released??
yes I am also unable to download the songs....any advice out there ?
I might actually have got this one right! Usually I just download and enjoy, but this one seemed pretty easy even for me.
What a great selection today. Not particularly challenging but fun to listen to over and over to find the clues.
If I had ever been here before I would probably know just what to do...
Oh wait a sec. I have been here before!
What a show!!! No wonder they only had one guitar for an encore.
Listening to these shows is prize enough for finding the tunes...but don't tell them I said that ;). Heck, even if you never find it, you're bound to find some shows to fill the playlist for the next few days...
Happy birthday to the archivist and challenge maker.
They're easing us into it with this one.
that was the best version of a favorite Dead song I have ever heard. It gave me chills!
Well after 90min yesterday tracking down the West LA from Hartford, it took me a grand total of about 3min today finding this UJB. Which means tomorrow I should expect a tough one.... (I almost prefer the ones I have to really search for, fun game!)
Sounds better than the last time this was used for 30 days. Surprised by the repeat though. Those returned reels must be a major upgrade!
I really hope they have an upgrade of this whole show. I would love to have a copy where everyone can be heard better during the jams.
This is the second time this year that there's been a repeat from previous years' 30 Days of Dead. It's kind of disappointing when there are so many terrific versions of these songs to draw from.
Yesterday I was right, I was at the show, I was not at this one ( I was a bit young) but wish I was there.
There have been hints of more coming from this period, and I am fine with that!
Got it on my first guess. Now I can actually get some work done today.
Anyone else having a problem with the d/l?
I didn't download today's since I already have it in my collection. But, I haven't had in trouble with the previous downloads.
Not as challenging as West LA Fadeaway was for me. The relatively sedate crowd threw me off at first. See y'all this weekend I hope!
It's like deja vu all over again.
The sweet hints below justa keep on coming!!
--- 'Oh Well'.... "throw it so we can see where it goes, will ya"!
Lots of Jerry this year. Good to see!
I just went through every version on archive.org that deadbase IX lists as acoustic and I can find it...This shouldn't be too hard, but I'm getting nowhere.
good night, he said.
5 for 7, this outa make it 6 for 8! Preety darn proud of myself.
Hey!! I'm proud of 3 for 8!!
sure is a purty little song
