Here's the basic scoop:
Workingman's Ed Bay Area, authentic, rehearsed and honest. Truly great musicians.
Stu Allen - lead guitar, from JGB Band Pat Nevins - rhythm guitar, from Grapefruit Ed (predecessor and symbiotic with WE) Jeff Faust - bass James Miller - keys Paul Scannell -drums
Anyone seeking a Grateful Dead "fix" will be really glad they found these guys.
Thanks, Mary!
Any one in the Bay Area this weekend has a great chance to see the band this Sunday, 5 August at the annual Jerry Day celebration in Jerry Garcia Amphitheatre of McLaren Park.
www.jerryday.org will guide you
Workingman's Ed does a phenomenal job of honoring the Grateful Dead, reaching into their vast song list to recapture musical experiences of the past. Stu Allen, in particular, provides a stunningly authentic lead guitar, very successfully emulating Jerry's phrasing, tone and imagination, and singing his lead part with surprising voicing. Pat Nevins adds the crtical rythym guitar, done as-it-should-be, and takes Bobby's vocal leads. Supported by a terrifically talented ensemble, this band will really grab you. Drummer Paul Scannell is also a founding member of Grapefruit Ed.
There's plenty more to say, but I'll leave space for others to add their comments...
