Intense foolish energy at this one!
Dan Healy had the place sounding great! Long tuning before Dark Star, then a long jam before the first verse. Right after the verse, the music got Very Weird Very Fast! It seemed like the Dark Star continued on through drums and space for a total duration of about 45 minutes! Then we got the Playin' reprise from the night before! Double Blue Dylan with the Thumb and Baby Blue! Phil was ROCKIN© at this gig! ". . . Music is the best!" (fz)

The highlights from this show are numerous; Jack Straw opener, Phil!, unbelievable Bird Song, and we're not even in the second set yet. Possibly the best China/Rider I ever caught, crazy Dark Star and the rest is a blur, until cozying up to a beautiful Baby Blue. Two great nights in NC, tough tickets but well worth it.

Sunshine Unreal April Fool's show! I was almost 21 and happy to be there. Unbelievable. When Dark Star crashed man it crashed. What a show! Did both shows in Greensboro and on to the Omni! How much fun was that?

I was going to UNC- Greensboro at the time. The colisseum was close enough to walk to. FUN TIMES ensued over those two days. The Dark Star was amazing... imho it surely rivals any played. I love the ~10 min jam before the first verse.

We scored tix through a friend that had a Ticketmaster location, when he called and told me we had some good tickets we were happy! Then I picked them up!!!!!!! We had four front row tix between Jerry and Bruce. Chuck, Eric, Pam and myself had such a large time that people were commenting after the show that they could see how much fun we had from halfway back on the floor. We got to talk to Hornsby a little which was cool. The Dark Star was such a blast...never thought i'd get to hear it live and it was a great one. Greensboro was always a trip, figuratively and literally...I miss the good 'ol days!

This was one of the last great shows I remember attending. The Dark Star was old school long. I took the banjo player and other guitar player from my bluegrass band to this show. They loved it - we do the Seldom Scene's version of I Know You Rider so they really dug that. I don't think they quite knew what to make of the Deadheads :) On the way out, we passed through the gauntlet of vendors and James (one of my band mates), after being offered all kinds of things, turned to me and asked, "do you reckon anyone's selling some Skoal here?" I said, "you might find something to put between your cheek and gum but it ain't tobacco ;) Tom Snediker Lead guitar, vocals The Kind, Crossties, Scott Fore and His Hillbilly Hotclub

This show and the previous night would be the best shows I'd attend after Brent's death . I went to the rest of the tour and they never reached the levels the did in Greensboro . I really was optimistic at the time thinking this was just the beginning of a whole new era of excellent shows and was a bit with how it was going in the music and really disappointed after around '92 except for a brief period of inspiration during 1993 . A lot of people never saw a show as good as these were , and I admit after I saw shows like 10/16/89, 3/24/90 3/29/90 it was hard reach that level and rare , just a handful of shows each tour that shine above the rest .. ,But that' why go on the road ...to catch that show , the one people are still raving about now ,,like this one
