As you may have noticed, we've just implemented a much-requested chatroom. It is quite simple and has few fancy features, but for the moment we just want it to work!

and got we all got booted out again! I was wondering at that point how long before we got tossed. Hilarious for a bunch of old farts to be tossed out!

the door to the chat room seems to be closed,,..as soon as i enter, i (and or we all) get the boot... another strange thing ,, when i did get in a few minutes ago,,i got a blank screen, the area that say`s who is in the chatroom was there but no names ,,.. Including mine ,, i was there ,,.. ??? seriousley i was ,,..lol ,,..then got booted , as expected....

I really hope we don`t star loosing members over this frigin chat room shit !!!! That would be a shame ,,.. I know a lot of people are here just to chat to kind people sometimes ,, and if we can`t chat to kind people ,, what`s the point in being here ??? I was really starting to feel good about myself again,, that`s a feeling i hav`nt felt in 15 years ..it is nice to know there is so many like me out here but we just can`t talk to each other without a hassle,... it`s really sad ,,,,,,,,,,

It was good to see that they fixed the issue about non-registered users entering the chat room. Thank you.
It seems to be an issue with folks that enter the chatroom, say a few words, maybe more, and then have to leave for what ever reason. No wrong or mis-behaving going on here. When they leave it appears that the system thinks they are still part of the chatroom. Which then results in a certain level of in-activity that the system recognizes. Hence, the way to fix the issue is to 'flush the toilet' and kick everyone out.

that we all are in the same boat,but thats the thing anyway(a group of people called deadheads,swimming around life in a ship of fools.remember?)but that chat thing starts getting weird.i am apatient person wheni get the boot 50 times in one hour i try 50 times to get in again.but not everybody does and after going through this mess the third day,im also pretty bored pushing the button,but far more annoyed by the nice conversations that get cut and in the last consequence finished.and thats BAD,because alot of nice discussions were grounded and it ends up that the people dont take that thing for communication,but just for blabla..what else can u do in 30 secs.its a really big problem and i dont understand that the tech guys r not capable of dealing with it.if it continues,it will just slip away...and THAT WOULD BE SAD!

I am not a major whiner, but come on, this is not working. If someone got $ to create a chatroom, they should make it work. Many of us try to do the best at our jobs, it would be nice if the people creating chatroom would or could too.

I just got booted out twice for misbehaving myself.
Jonathan is trying various things in hopes of resolving this.
it can't be that hard
surely all they have to do is to completely remove the routine that does the kicking.
Since it does not punish you for profanity and such anyway why keep it?
Let us chat and self police for a while and see how it goes while they develop a more sophisticated kicking routine if such a thing is needed. They could publish or even make a discussion of the criteria for kicking people.
I want to be on the committee that discusses what and what is not profanity as I am an expert on such things ;-)
So please just turn off the fucking kicking machine!!!!

as i believe that 99% of the people using the net have reached the age of 18(i dont want to impose on them that they are adults),though have aquired the right to decide for themselves what their doing,it just makes no sense to have an installation who treats them like an awkward teacher.(kicked out for misbehavin...i thought it was a hallucination when i 1st saw it).anyway i am sure that somebody coming to the chat and acting like a bastard,goof or otherwise being annoying to the people there,will be after a while ignorated .no machine needed...YEAH,turn that damn kick-thing off!!!!:-)(-:

it does no good at all so why not just switch it off, let us self police while the bugs are fixed off line and reinstall it when it works and if needed.

Part of the fun is the spontaneity of the format. It's like when you're trying to get it on with yer old lady and somebody keeps knocking on the door. Or the dog keeps yapping away, or the phone keeps ringing. All those distractions take away from the experience. The getting kicked out issue is becoming too much of a distraction. Please don't take this as a complaint, I just want to chat with a few buds, and have some fun. Jonathan says, oh, how we wish we could just disable the kick function, but it doesn't appear to be possible with the software in question. He also says that he's incorporated some fixes and is running a test version of the software on a test site and hopes to have some good news for us soon. i am in no way a tech wiz.but my brother IS,and my son is going that direction too.both of them have thaught me a basic rule when it comes down to work with comps.they are machines,and they wont do anything what was not put into their program to do!so my humble conclusion is:in this software there is a function,lets call it kick-machine,which to work must be turn ON,that leads me to the further idea that their must,no their HAS to be a function that is capable to turn OFF the kick-thing.its just incredible to imagine that you have software which you cannot controll,because ON/OFF are the basics of control.if i am wrong than you have a software which decides instead of the people who installed it.come on,mary,please tell me that this is not true. :-)(-:P.S.if it was a test run,than it is allready going on for months,and i just cant imagine that you have installed software which controls you instead of you controlling it.Please mary there is so much frustration,deception etc.being caused by this ONE malfunction...turn the button if you can........and have a nice weekend!!

... to fix the issues in the chat room I would do so forthwith. Sadly, I do not possess such high level skills. However, and post haste I will concentrate all my positive thoughts on getting this thing straightened out, and I know if we all think good positive thoughts everything's gonna be all right. Perhaps we could close our eyes and wiggle our noses and viola! it's all fixed and working like clockwork. Then all the heads worldwide in Europe, and Asia, and South America, and North America, and everywhere else can chat one day and have a fun and totally groovy chat experience. Who knows, maybe we Deadheads can solve all of the issues that are troubling mankind at this time. I personally think that if we used more Hemp, things would be much more copacetic. So let's get to work on the chat room and maybe, just maybe we save Planet Earth. Which by the way, just happens to be the best planet that ever was.
