Who says there's nothing to
Who says there's nothing to do in the Midwest? The adjoining golf course is a fine distraction from all the distractions!
Always a fun time to be had......
up at Alpine valley, the parking lot, golf course, nearby Geneva, loved going there
How about that crazy campground
Saw shows there in '84 and '87 and stayed at the campground called Muckwanago or something like that. Out of control everytime.
Lots of rain.
It was strange coming back two years after my first visit to the Midwest and to Alpine. Everything looked completely different for some reason.

Muckwanago
I camped there in '84 for those two shows, nice place and very out of control. A great time was had by all!!
My first show!
I'll never forget parking at the golf course and walking down then up the hill to get to the venue and main parking lot. Lots of heads selling many various "things" as we walked amongst the trees! Missed the opener but got in for Jack Straw. The tape I got later was garbled - wish I could find a better one!
Always will be Missing the Dead at Alpine!

Alpine Valley
It seems half of my 131 shows were at Alpine. It was my home venue. Camping in the main lot was unreal. Especially in '87 and '88 when there were 3 or 4 shows in 5 days. You'dpark and.....well, there you were. The water trucks would come in every morning. You got tight with your neighbors. You'd vote somebody to have to go to town every other day.
Speaking of town, I think the locals started figuring it out in the mid to late 80's. The general stores and little breakfast places realized that they should stock up so that they would not run out of eggs on day two!
Alpine... it was like having our own country...
I wish I had never left... but, I had to get to the next show!
8th show, 2nd of my summer
8th show, 2nd of my summer mini tour.. Blondejim puts it best. Alpine is like our own country' Multiple days, rural, tremendous scene, and camping.. This was very different from Indy, but this was total fun.Bird song then Let it Grow....let's fly around for a while, then do some travilin'..
Just moved to Chicago area
My first year in Illinois Highwood to be exact. Took a tour bus that a local guy used from his boss. Nice show. My first Alpine Valley experience.
enormous parking lot campground-very fun and very big

My very first show
This was my very first show, taken there by a friend who got the tickets, during the show, we bought more tickets for the next night. This is when I got on the bus.
Playboy Mansion
Not sure if really was a playboy mansion but was rumored to be in nearby Geneva, was a great place had its own golf coarse and even had Skeet shooting. How many hotels have we stayed in that had that?????? Not that any of took part in the skeet shooting but was intense hotel/mansion.Pricey but remember we made money everyday back then and some days were better then others.
oh, yeah!
I remember that campground! We stayed there before we knew you could just camp in the lot. I was introduced to those spinning holographic disks at those shows. I think that this was my first set of Alpine shows. I remember seeing some crazy visions in the trees.
