    My first show

The day was hot, but we kept cool with the gallons of beer in plastic jugs they were selling. Great show!

gallon jugs of beer at the Zoo are a long lost thing of the past
This was the only time I had the privilege of going too a Dead show and I loved it, what I can remember of it. Bet I had a gallon of beer and whatever else was around at the time.

See my lengthy post on the show from the night before (7/31/82) for the reason why! (Short version -- the band COOKED the night before, played late, and then was supposed to start this show at 2 p.m.! Crash and burn! All we could do was laugh!) Glen

Let's put it into context; 7/31/82 in Manor was after Red Rocks. To get to Manor we had to drive through Oklahoma City and the another million miles to Manor, then turn around and drive a million miles BACK to OKC for the Zoo show. Many of us, myself included, blew off Manor and rested in Oklahoma City. For those who didn't, band, crew and heads alike were no doubt exhausted. The 2PM start WAS late and gallon jugs of beer were being sold in the parking lot. I saw more than one cowboy with a gallon jug in each hand.

I skipped manor downs and hitched a super crazyride through the wasteland of ok. Thought the show was good no rain that was a plus. Saw a bunch of birds fly out of the zoo? Almost got robbed by this dude who picked me up while I hitched into town to get a ticket at the local record store. Met some cool kats that took me all the way to Iowa city. Great tour summer 82.
