Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we'll check out a classic jam from 1973, and two late-80s first set sequences.
Our first stop this week is on Jerry's birthday on 8/1/73 at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, NJ, where we have this massive second set jam of Dark Star > El Paso > Eyes Of The World> Morning Dew. Three major Jerry-song songs, with an El Paso sandwiched in between.
Next up is the entire first set from 7/30/88 at Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA. The 1988 touring year for the Grateful Dead was up and down, but these three Monterey shows were very strong. From this excellent show, we have Let The Good Times Roll ; Feel Like A Stranger ; Loser ; New Minglewood Blues ; Row Jimmy ; Stuck Inside of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again ; When Push Comes To Shove ; The Music Never Stopped, Don't Ease Me In.
Lastly this week is the start of the first set from 8/4/89 at Cal Expo, the start of three excellent shows, my first trip to Cal Expo, my favourite outdoor venue to see the Grateful Dead. From this show, we have Bertha ; Greatest Story Ever Told ; Althea ; Mama Tried ; Mexicali Blues ; Never Trust A Woman.
Be sure to join us here next week for more tunes from the vault.
