The Sky Was Yellow And The Sun Was Blue
People Stopping Strangers Just To Shake Their Hand.
FlicksterIncredibly great
FlicksterIncredibly great shows, however the restricted camping area presented some problems.that ground was so hard that trying to get a tent stake in the ground proved to way too much ,luckily we had enough cases of beer to stack four cases in each corner of the tent, which was great the first day but very early the second day(which was actually the first show) our tent was flappin in the wind. by the end of the seco nd show there was no tent, and we had this huge bag of popcorn that was going to go to waste , so we started bagging it up to give away, but nobody seemed to want any until we started saying "Free Dosed Popcorn here, get your popcorn" we were having so much fun giving that popcorn away that people actuallywere talking about that popcorn for a long time and I bet a bunch of you folks really thought it was dosed. Sorry, but it wasfun though eh?
1st show
I became a Dead Head at 17 from a small GA town and finally moved out West at 23!First show July 30~31,1983 Ventura County Fairgrounds,CA with real palm trees and a beach!
I have the greatest pictures ever from that trip with my 35mm! But you can't dance with a camera!
Ventura '83
Met my sister halfway in Ventura, fun begins immediately. Memorable thing was that there was a wildfire burning the hills and you could see it from the Fairgrounds. The Dead launch into Fire On The Mountain! This band could react musically to anything and always did. People who ask what was so special that was one of the main things, they were the next wave of jazz, a band who listened intently to each other, responded to the audience vibe, were never ever bound to a set list but were free, free free.
ventura 7/31/83
I got on the bus the day before. This was my second encounter with a great sound.I'm just looking for photos.
