Grateful Dead Hour no. 1271

Grateful Dead Hour by David Gans

Week of January 28, 2013

First of two programs featuring some unreleased music recorded June 28, 1969 in Santa Rosa, California. Jerry Garcia plays pedal steel guitar on "Slewfoot" and "Silver Threads and Golden Needles." "Mama Tried," very new to the repertoire at this point, is taken much slower than usual. "Me and My Uncle" features John "Marmaduke" Dawson of the New Riders on backup vocals and Peter Grant on banjo.

Plus a sampling of some new releases.
