The Beach Theatre, in St. Pete Beach Florida, will be showing this film "CRIMSON, WHITE & INDIGO" again this saturday, April 24, at 8 pm. Tickets are $8. The Beach Theatre is located at 315 Corey Avenue, St. Pete Beach, FL 33706. Our website is www.beachtheatre.com . Phone 727 360 6697.
Ordinarily we sell tickets online -- we have had trouble with the system lately, so if it doesn't work, you can buy tickets at our box office.
Please spread the word...this was a last minute booking for us so there's not a lot of time for us to publicize the showing. It's also the last time we'll be able to run this movie in the theatre. We ran it last week and got a great response....everyone had fun.
In addition, we'll have a contest to win a DVD/CD copy of the movie itself.
I saw this last night in Oberlin, OH. Got together with a couple of friends for a short road trip. Video was great. Sounds was clear, and loud also. What a wonderful three-hour escape! Never saw 'em on the big screen.
Hard to top Brent on "Blow Away."
We all laughed really hard after the show when one of the attendees, milling around outside the theater, yelled, "Veggie burrito!" as we exited. Classic!
LET'S DO THIS AGAIN SOMETIME REALLY SOON.
Closing of Winterland...any of the VFTVs...Truckin' Up To Buffalo (haven't experienced that show yet)...you get the idea.
I heard and felt a subtle version of "that glow". Not over the top, but it was there. I even got in via a miracle ticket. I was expecting about 4 other people to show up, so I was surprised to see a note at the box office saying, "Tonight's showing is sold out." AHHWHAA? Then I calmly got my space together and waited about 10 minutes. A guy gets in line and announces, "I have extras." WHAM I was there like a chameleon on an insect.
The juxtaposition of Jerry and Bob is quite a sight to behold. Bob is slender, toned, pony-tailed, wearing those conflabbed short shorts (he must have gotten A LOT of women), and then there's ol' Jer looking like Papa Smurf after eating a platter of bacon quesadillas.
Anyway, I encourage the powers that be to do this kind of thing regularly. I'd be there every time.
I am flying in from Colorado Springs for the 420 day in Telluride and the Show that night. Hope to meet happy people there.

It probably wont matter now since it is only a few hours away but the Pasadena location is showing it on Sunday the 18th @ 11 am, which is not listed here:)
Kind of weird? I mean I can't wait to get my copy but packing into a theatre just seems weird on so many levels. But this is coming from someone who doesn't even like going to the theatre for a movie let alone a movie of a concert.

My wife and I saw Crimson, White and Indigo in L.A. this morning. Drove up from San Diego with great anticipation and were not disappointed. Even though 11 am was a weird time to see a GD show, it was an extremely enjoyable and memorable experience. The sound was outstanding (it could always be louder!) and the theater audience was responsive and appreciative, as if we were all at the show together (but without the hot, muggy weather at JFK). My wife hopped on the bus only since we met in 2006 and she walked out of the theatre singing Hell in a Bucket and believing this was as close to a genuine GD experience she could have, despite seeing and thoroughly digging Ratdot, the Dead and Further more than once each. We both hope GDP, Rhino et al. continue with such productions. However, I would prefer not to drive up to LA (despite Randy Newman's inexplicable appreciation of the town). Thanks to all responsible. I'm still floating.
I saw "Crimson, White & Indigo" at the Robinson Film Center tonight in Shreveport, LA.
The sound was horrible. It was absolutely the worst audio I've ever encountered from a Grateful Dead presentation.
They didn't even have a stereo mix, much less a 5.1 mix. There was no bottom end and, for most of the concert, you couldn't hear Phil's bass or anything from the drums except for some high hats.
The theater screened the trailer for the movie beforehand and it was plenty loud and seemed to be a decent mix. Then they ran the trailer a second time until, somewhere in the middle of it, they figured out what they were doing and turned it off.
When they got the movie running the sound had been reduced to something akin to a large mono television set.
Knowing the quality of Grateful Dead releases, I knew that what I was hearing wasn't what was intended.
I went to find a theater representative to complain and found 3 other people already complaining. The response we got was that the had no control over the audio; that they were receiving an internet feed and we were getting exactly what the band originally recorded instead of the remastered release.
In the middle of "Scarlet Begonias" they lost the audio and then turned the video off. Someone came in and explained something about "thunder and lightning" outside, telling us that they'd get the movie back on shortly.
Somewhere during "Estimated Prophet" the sound quality improved and you could hear everything more clearly, although there was still no stereo separation. During "Drums", however, you could tell just how poor the sound was because of the lack of resonance in the bottom end. For the rest of the movie, though, the sound was relatively acceptable.
The final insult came when the credits rolled and the house lights came up before the "Knocking On Heaven's Door" encore. They heard the commotion from the audience, though, and turned them off again for the remainder of the movie.
The ambience of the audience in general was enjoyable but the audio quality and and the lighting problem made this a disappointing evening.
At least 6 people left during the showing and never returned.
I was told that there were 20 theaters who got the same feed tonight and that the audio was bad because it was recorded that way originally.
Bah!
I have a Independant theater in my town and emailed then about the movie but they cant do it cause they are not digital yet ... SO .. ask you r local theater to get it they just might...Good luck I am still trying to get it closer to me..

Locations
Aside from the listings of the theatres showing the movie, I noticed that the Hi-Pointe theatre in St. Louis is showing it tonight, Friday, April 23rd. So for all of the St. Louis Dead fans, get your asses over there. My old hometime is blessed, still nothing coming to Milwaukee, as far as I know...
Peace, Steve
