August 15 - August 21, 2011
Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have batch of Dead spanning a decade in Grateful Dead history, 1979-1989.
Our first selection is the first set from 12/7/79 in Indianapolis, where there's loads of great stuff in this 11 song set, including a trio of songs they were working on for the Go To Heaven album. Please note there is a tape cut at the end of Music Never Stoped: New Minglewood Blues ,Tennessee Jed , Me And My Uncle > Big River ,Don't Ease Me In , > El Paso ,Big Railroad Blues , Easy To Love You , > It's All Over Now ,Althea ,The Music Never Stopped.
Next is music from Long Beach, CA, on 12/13/80, where we have the start of the second set, featuring Scarlet Begonias>Fire On The Mountain>Playing In The Band. Like the previous selection, this was drawn from the cassette master. The head of Scarlet is missing due to the “record” button being hit a moment too late, but what is included here is typically hot late-1980 Dead. Most of the shows in the month+ after the Radio City gigs were excellent.
Lastly this week we have the entire first set from 12/30/89 in Oakland, the always-great night-before-New-Year's-Eve. The entire set is extremely solid, and includes the first Bertha> Good Lovin' ,> Sugaree ,Walkin' Blues, Jack-A-Roe ,When I Paint My Masterpiece, West L.A. Fadeaway ,The Music Never Stopped..
Be sure to return here next week for more great tunes from the vault. As always, we encourage you to write with questions or comments, or just to say hello, to the email address below.

More great stuff to keep us entertained this week. This is really something that many people look forward to every week and I hope that you will continue to provide this entertainment for us.
Just try this casino en ligne and you will love the casino graphics and the casino sounds that is offered in Internet gambling.
Bertha>Good Lovin' is weak. So is the usually hot Jack-A-Roe. Walkin'Blues is forgettable.
The highlight of this whole first set is the masterful Music Never Stopped (OMG!)
~ They're a band beyond description Like Jehovah's favorite choir People joining hand-in-hand While the music plays the band Lord they're settin' us on fire ~
Hip Hip Hooray!
but now it is fixed!
Possibly the Taper's Section is simulating the experience of knowing you have a box full of really cool tapes that you can't find?
now I do have the links. Don't know if they came back or if I just spaced before. They seem to go all the way back, too. Hopefully your issue is corrected soon.
I can go back only to the Oct. '09 entries. So, technically I can view old entries just not from when the good 'ol TS became a staple of my Monday mornings (Dec. '06). Likewise, I too hope this is a temporary condition!
The links for past taper's sections are gone. Hopefully a temporary condition.
i've been having some issues the past couple weeks, glitch-wise... and it even seemed like it was affecting me and not others at times.. but admins and some users helped me navigate through those issues.. I am not experiencing any problems when going back to read old entries, but with what i went through previous weeks, I wouldn't be surprised it working for me and not you wilfredT. fortunately they've looked into each of my reported issues and likely will check on yours.
Thanks again for the service and joyful selection TS!!
