Many thanks to all involved, and vine on! -- Dead.Net Vines - What It Is & How It Works (We're changing some things for 2009) BACKGROUND: The concept of a "vine" is music sharing through conventional means (e.g. mailing cd's or dvd's) with the sign-up list being on-line. The basic idea is that someone starts (seeds) a vine, made up of one or multiple shows, and sends it via mail to the first person who signs up. That person makes a copy for themselves and sends the ORIGINAL media on to the next person on the list. As more people sign up, it continues to grow and grow - hence the name "vine". MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Make sure you can deal with the media format. Many vines are in audio CD format, so the minimum basic requirement is that you are knowledgeable and capable of copying audio CD's. Other vines are in D

This is a single flac DVD that will unbundle to 13 CDs. (Sorry no wav CDs) Sources include soundboards, radio broadcasts, and audience recordings, and you can see special guests often sit in with the Doctor for some bayou boogie and to help spice up the gumbo. I just got these in the mail and it is easier to burn multiple discs than it is to go back later and re-rip, so here is another 'stache vine. Caveat: I haven't listened to those shows yet so I cant' really vouch for them, but I am sure that most are at least good and that there is a gem or two in here. I looked through the Vindex and omitted the shows that were listed, and I apologize if I include anything that wasn't listed but has been vined. There will be 11 shows in SHN/FLAC format on 3 DVD's. I know they say 1986 is a rough year but there are some real gems if you poke around particularly during the spring tour. I am not good at picking out a "best of" like our friend dstache =) but the 5 shows I chose (fit on one dvd and) are pretty darn good sound quality sbds. As for a quick review, if you can forgive Jerry for drawing a blank on Althea on 3/20 (his guitar work makes up for it though!), the next song, Box of Rain, is fabulous, one of the best I've heard. The Cal Expo shows are both exceptionaly good, I'll even go out on a limb and say they are in the top 5 for '86. Here are the 4 shows that I think are the best from the fine Spring '89 tour. All are A SBDs mastered by Charlie Miller. SHN/FLAC files will be on 1 DVD, and I will include WAV files for the first show on CD and ask that each of the first 3 people to sign up convert and burn to CD 1 show each. The shows included are 3/31 Greensboro, 4/5 and 4/6 Ann Arbor (note that the venue is Crisler Arena, not Chrysler like the car company, I bring this up because in the early 90's some friends and I bought scalped tickets outside the arena for a Pearl Jam show and the tickets said Chrylser, which should have been a clue to my friend who made the purchase, all is well that ends well as we all got in regardless) and 4/15 Milwaukee. Thanks to RMB for the shows!!! First person to sign up please PM me your info. Enjoy!

Here are 3 shows--1 from 1990 and 2 from 1995. The first show, 7-10-90, is on 1 DVD in flac format. Thanks to RaymondMBrown for sending me this show. This was at Carter Finley Stadium in Raleigh, NC. The Dead played to 35,000 heads. There was a thunderstorm which knocked out power in the middle of Promised Land. Power was restored in about 5 minutes, and the Dead picked up where they left off. I have included some newspaper articles on this show. This show has some very good jamming in Set 2. The other 1995 shows are on CDRs (5 total). I do not have source info but they appear to be digital soundboards. I must point out that these ’95 shows are technically not seamless. There are very small dead air glitches between tracks-about 1/4 of a second. This is how I got the shows so until upgrades are seeded, this is all I have to offer. Plans are in the works to do another ’95 vine with about 3 to 4 shows. Hey now! So I have been slacking in starting some 78 vines but I am now ready to get a vine out there by request from our friend pomo1. Included for the flash-back are: 04-18-78 Pittsburgh Civic Arena sbd.cotsman.14036.sbeok.shnf 09-02-78 Giants Stadium - East Rutherford, NJ sbd.miller.106818.sbeok.flac16 And a couple more from April to fill out the DVD (and not just "filling out" the mtx.seamons is great!): 04-19-78 Veterans Memorial Auditorium Columbus, OH mtx.seamons.94522.sbeok.flac16 04-21-78 Rupp Arena - Lexington, KY sbd.miller.97501.sbeok.flac16 This one will be in flac/shn, I debated about wav but I just couldn't do it, sorry! Let's start this list with pomo1 being #1. Thanks and enjoy. 1.pomo1 2. "The dire wolf collects his due while the boys sing round the fire"

Here are 3 shows from 1971 with plenty of Eugenes, Saucerfuls, Fat Old Suns and Embryos, and 1 show each from 1977 (Animals, WYWH) and the 1980/1981 tour (The Wall). The '71 shows are all GREAT and the '77 and '80/81 shows are the second best sounding of the 10 or so shows from each respective tour that I have. These are all excellent sounding AUDs. 2/25/71, 10/17/71, 11/20/71, 6/27/77 and 2/19/81. These shows will be in SHN/FLAC on 1 DVD and, with the help of the first 3 persons to sign up, on WAV CDs. I will convert and burn to CD 2/25/71 and 10/17/71, and I ask that the first person to receive the vine convert and burn to CD 11/20/71 (3 CDs), the second person 6/27/77 (2 CDs), and the third person 2/19/81 (2 CDs). Thanks and enjoy!

I need my flashbacks! (FYI, 4/18/78 was my first show, and although I was at Giants Stadium on 9/2/78, I can't seem to recall much from that day for some reason.:D) Thanks again, JSFC. "That path is for, your steps alone."

Ok so here it is! As dstache mentioned in the Meta-topic, these shows are top-notch - Great to Very Good as graded by dstache =) and I have to totally agree! They also just so happen to make a perfect "Top-10 List" through May 78. 3 dvd's of shn/flac. Tommo was very kind to send me these shows, and I just checked the Vindex, and they have not been vined yet. This includes the entire April Orlando, FL run. But most importantly, the 4/7 shows contains the best '91 "Rubin & Cherise" of the 4, that I am aware of, that were played that year. The dates of the other "Rubin & Cherise" shows include: 3/17, 3/27, and 6/9--all 1991. Please note that on the 4/7 show, the txt file does not list Sugaree in set 1. I have listed it below; the song file is there on the DVD so don't worry about that. Also in set 1 of 4/7, track 8 (gd91-04-07d1t08.shn) should not be there so you may not want this track included if you burn to CDR; track 8 is a late 70s (77 or 78?) Jack Straw. Here's a collection of 'Oo (read with your best cockney accent) shows across five decades. Most of the sound quality is soundboard, "A" or "A-". Check out Pete's NY Supper Club Solo show - with a little EQ and a set of headphones this is one of my favorite audience shows and the venue is small and intimate. The between song banter is really fun. This will probably be on 5 DVDs. 4-5-1968 Fillmore East 8-16-1968 Woodstock 9-23-1969 Amsterdam, Holland Concertbegouw 10-19-1969 The Electric Factory, Philadelphia, PA 7-7-1970 Tanglewood, Lenox, MA 11-29-1971 Warehouse N.O. Here are what I feel are the best-sounding of the best shows from the JGB in '76, not including the shows that have been vined already and the officially released Don't Let Go. I posted in the metatopic a few weeks ago, asking those who only do WAV to let me know if they were interested in the vine, and I received no response, so this will be SHN/FLAC files only. Don't let the fact that most of these are AUD's deter you; I've graded all as at least A- sound quality. I've left off some Very Good shows of lesser sound quality (2/24, 9/16). I still have some more shows to go through so, if you are all very good, there may be a Part II.
