I think...

though I'm prepared to be corrected by those with better knowledge, that the designs are from Jer's art, of which there is lots, but I don't know the details.

Jerry ties?

Were the original Jerry ties actually designed by Jerry? Or did he just attach his name to it? If he did it, how many different designs were his as opposed to, say, variations on a theme?

Wage slaves? Really? In America? Say it ain't so! If I were president Jerry ties would be de rigeur in my administration.

On topic, 40 years ago today the Grateful Dead played an epic 14 song acoustic first set at the Fillmore East that included Cocaine Blues.

when they first came out

I thought they were quite nice, and they served as sort of a subversive statement for wage slaves compelled to wear ties. I suppose they still do, but I kinda scratch my head at their transformation to that big a line also.

Saw a vast selection (like at least 40 different) in a popular nationwide chain the other day. Can't say i see the attraction...

A range of eight 'ties', designed by Jerry Garcia of The Grateful Dead went on sale in the US. President Bill Clinton bought a set. The collection grossed millions in the US by the end of the year.
