Seemed like the band didn't want to play this night. Man smart/Woman Smarter was decent. They stepped it up with Terrapin and then it was over.
Was this the show where Phil came out in a Barney suit?
..WOW A COOL CLOSER THAT NITE
Josh E Bear !!
My first Dead show, so I can't judge it for you without bias -- the whole experience was magical. My apartment mate was a Dead Head and I'd been playing the life out of his bootlegs, so it was time to really hear them. My favorite song at the time was Terrapin and I mentioned how much I hoped they'd play it, but the second set went by and no luck. He told me to give up: They hadn't played it as an encore for more than a decade. Jerry got up there, seemed to look right at my spot on the 10th row, and then they ripped into it. No, we weren't on acid, and yes I know he wasn't really looking at me, but we were both spooked all the same!
Terrapin was a great way to end an otherwise down night. I don't know if it was the band or if my friends were getting on my nerves -we just didn't get off the ground on this night. I do remember the huge micro-beer selection and amazing veggie sandwiches in the parking lot that night.
