I was at that Meadowlands show where that Katz kid got killed. That security was way out of hand that whole run.

a subject on which I'm starting to think we may need a topic. It's certainly the case that not every show's scene was especially blissful. One minor example, from the History of later this month--it was really a shock to come from the Veneta 82 show, which was a marvel of good vibes and general delight, to the next night's show in Seattle, where hordes of mounted police (poor horses...) were on hand to intimidate the fans into docility, and one was not allowed to bring so much as one's purse into the venue. I vaguely recall the music being okay, but the vibe was not the best.

This ranks as my LEAST favorite show ever attended. Musically it may not have been so bad (as people tell me and try to get me to listen) but it was an ugly scene and I've never wanted to revisit that night ever again.

Awesome sequence of Dark Star>El Paso>Eyes>Dew>Sugar Mag>GDTRFB. - In 1982, the Grateful Dead played the Zoo Amphitheater in Oklahoma City, OK. - In 1994, the Grateful Dead played one of the best shows of their summer tour at the Palace in Auburn Hills, MI. Excellent Scarlet>Fire and a good Satisfaction to close the show.

That first of the two Auburn Hills gigs in '94 was an absolute belter... ONE: Touch>Greatest Story, Row Jimmy, Spoonful, Lazy River Road, Me and My Uncle>Big River; Loose Lucy; Midnight Hour TWO: Samson; Way to Go Vince; Speedway>Truckin>He's Gone>D/S/Spanish Jam>Last Time>Black Peter>Good Lovin' E: The Weight Plenty of "tinkle break" selections in there --to hear the congregation tell it anyway**-- but what a cracking performance.
