Get rid of those preconceptions!

Ah! There's the rub! Today, I am a total conservative. But back in 1967, when I got on he bus, I was a total Freak, with a capital F . I got into the music almost immediately. Loving the Dead, has nothing to do with one's politics, but one's head-space. Forty years later, I still love them.

The very fact that you don't get it, implies that you still have certain prejudices against conservatives. You're letting certain prejudices, certain conceits get in the way of digging your conservative friends. I know; I used to be a liberal, with precisely he same prejudices and conceits as you. Been there, done that, as it were.

Love of music is universal, and does not rely on politics or any other kind of social mindset.

I'm pleased to see that you know some conservatives. Good. Don't lose touch with them. They make great frends, when you really need them.

And open your mind.

Lots will open on SUNDAY! This should mean there will be a serious Shakedown street!

On the ticket front:
"Some patrons had attempted to purchase more than the limit of two tickets. If you had created a second account and purchased another set of tickets, you should have been notified by Ticketmaster that your order was cancelled and money was credited back to your charge card. In the event that you received tickets or TicketFast emails on a cancelled order, NOTE THAT THE BARCODE HAS BEEN INVALIDATED AND WILL NOT ALLOW ENTRY INTO THE BUILDING. Patrons with cancelled tickets will be denied entry and information will be provided for the PA State Attorney General’s Office in the event they need to file a complaint regarding any tickets purchased on the secondary market (StubHub, eBay, TicketNetwork, etc)."

the music is the trap

it is just like that non-denominational church with the rock band, except it is a much much better band. actually no comparison there, but there are going to be a lot of voter registration people praying on your innocent souls. not kidding... for real. i have seen it before. go ahead and say mooo or baaah. its all the same anyway.

Change Rocks!!

Heading up to PA for the show and just wondering what hotel the family will be staying at so I can be apart of the after fun. drop me an email ASAP so I can make my reservations at completebalance@yahoo.com Thanks

On the discourse of conservatives...

I truly have an open mind, but yet I can still disagree with conservatives on many issues. Many, not all, conservatives are not about saving the little bit of enviroment that we have left, I am. I have twirled the consequences and pros over and over and I have made a decision after YEARS of looking at the pros and cons of lets say, drilling for oil in Alaska. Many, no all, conservatives don't want abortion for ANY reason, I say let a woman make up her mind, it might be killing a human, which I think it is, but its NOT my place to tell someone what to do with a decision like that. But on the other hand I fight against the killing of someone who has killed someone, That argument right there still sends me thinking about those issues. So I've made up my mind that its ok with the abortion because we area a nation that seperates church and state. Its up to that woman and HER god, or lack, to make that decision. On the other hand, its not right for the government, MY and YOUR government to kill someone. Thats the difference. So I don't totally agree with abortion but when it comes to laws I have to let others make that decision for themselves. That point of all this is to say that I HAVE thought a LOT about many points of view and just because I disagree with someone doesn't make me have a closed mind. What makes a person have a closed mind is when they DON"T try to understand the other persons perspective. Make sense?
I am very openminded but I do believe in making a stand for something I believe in after some serious thought and understanding.
What changed your thought process from liberal to conservative I wonder? I also have some conservative beliefs, such as those on abortion. Yet when it comes to laws, I am liberal. I believe enough in the Constitution that I have to seperate Church and State. This is a BIG problem with the USA right now. We have to keep these seperate.
Thanks for some nice dialoque. I don't think we are trying to bash each other, I am certainly not. I just believe that the Deads music was more than that. Music is about a certain soul. Certain music speaks very specifically about certain human issues, and this is MY kind of music. Then you have fluff which is what ya hear today on MTV and the radio, and most of that I hear no soul. The GD had a certain soul that spoke to me the first time I heard them. I stand by that soul as does the GD in this choice to play Monday night. I hope you come inspite of your beliefs or prejudice's about the show. Maybe we can meet and hug and know that inspite of our differences we are both human and only doing what we think is the best for the world.

Illegal Vending????

Looks like Shakedown could be getting harassed. Said in the BJC that illegal vending is just that illegal. That sucks. But its true that the lot will be open on Sunday for $20 a car, the day of the event parking is $10.00. The below is straight from the BJC website. So be careful to all! and have a good time but keep a heads up. Glad that I am a Wharfrat and at least don't have to worry about that. The venue is also non smoking so I don't know if they have a place for us to smoke or not. I hope so!

When in the parking lot, a reminder that Pennsylvania state law prohibits the public consumption of alcoholic beverages in open containers. Any open fires are prohibited on Penn State property, as is any illegal vending.

thank you....your recent postings have been the most intelligent discourse i have read in these forums since the boys announced this show. very refreshing to see some thoughtful view points instead of the bashings that have been ladled out here over the last few weeks. brings me back to one of the things i always loved about a dead show, you could leave yer crap outside and enjoy the music, with other people who left their crap outside so they could enjoy the music, knowing we were all different, and relishing that fact. has'nt anyone noticed that this is not billed as a "dead show"? i think the boys realize the divisive nature of doing otherwise. this has torn us apart enough as it is.............THANK YOU!!!

Thanks Johnman!

For me this is how I learn. By talking with others that don't totally agree with me. And your right, this is NOT billed as a Dead show. Are you going Johnman?
Well I hope to see ALL of you there and know that the X factor could be present on Monday night. It is like a non denomination church, we all come to dance and really celebrate life no matter our leanings. Thats cool.

yeehaw!
