It's hard to believe that it's been 12 years.
If I think about it too much I can send myself spinning back to that day and feel that emptiness all over again. I still go to a lot of concetrts, but I will never have that feeling of anticipation before every set, every show and every song again.

Rest in Peace. You deserve nothing less after all the joy and love you and your music gave to so many of us. You may have left us in the physical sense, but your spirit and music continues to live within us. I find it amazing that there were no shows on this date. Just curious, how many "dark" days were there. Given the sheer number of shows, I would think there wouldn't be too many. BTW, thanks Aud for this feature, I really enjoy it.

Jerry my Brother, I too suffered the long road. You brought me so much peace before I could let go of the madness. When I finally surrendered, you where there wailing away and carrying me home once more. I have never forgotten what its like, and wont ever. My young ones even know uncle Jerry. My wife is converted, she has her own trip and spins her own way. Cant change the past, just look back and smile, we are all part of that unbroken chain. God bless you and your family my brother...Goin down the road feelin bad....just for today....ONE DAY AT A TIME...

Spent the day in Utah with the band up in the hills, where at least one person was observed entering the show under the canopy of a parachute, with purple smoke trailing behind him; some folks had set up a tarp in the middle of the crowd, upon which target the parachutist then made his graceful landing. As he passed over my head, I could see that he was dancing and had a ticket in his hand. Just a day like any other day, back when we had a Grateful Dead.

Tonight in 1966, the first Grateful Dead concert was recorded live at the Fillmore in San Francisco.
