Got ideas for how things should be run differently in the Vineyard? Improvements? Suggestions? Brainstorms? Truckloads of fertilizer? Post here.,On the floor at MSG... one perfect song after another...and we were beyond elated with disbelief and gratitude. This was truely a fantasy set list and, in my opinion, the best of my 8 show run.

Haven't been around here for a while... but things are different huh?? JackstrawfromColorado.... let me know what shows you need.... I have them all pretty much covered. Sorry to see there has been some toxins in the Vineyard.... doesn't take much to kill 'em off.... Hope everyone is otherwise well. -Raymond.

Thanks for backing me up and thank you too Jake. People are funneling vines to carolina boy I see and all I can say is "whatever". I tried being the vine cop but it was a grueling, thankless job and I spent way too much time and resources re-seeding vines and doing the follow ups with folks. No one could do what markinthedark did, and I suspect much like me he got way too burned out. I love a lot of you out there but the people with total disregard I cannot deal with anymore. I am signed up for the two 83 vines and I hope someone who has my email address could email me when they are coming my way I would be very grateful. Then I am officially out of here. The 72 europe bullshit and now the new site are making me crazy too so again, take care everyone I love you I loved trading with y'all but it is really time for me to say fare thee well. If you have my email drop me a letter and I'd love to trade that way with you but I am done here. Mark

Hey guys,

I just bumped all of Fall 72 and the entire 73 vines. Lot of stuff is lost over the pond unfortnately and lost in the server change-over.

As one of the original group that started vining here

'back in the day' I can agree that I have watched while several individuals took and took and ended up being 'vine killers'. They showed up, got on the list to receive the vine and then never sent them onto those next on the list. While I have not been as active, of late I will agree with my brothers comments that it is difficult to keep the vineyard producing when some just take and take. I wish I had an answer. For a while we were attentive and kept track and then ericat and then Markinthedark helped us attend to keeping the vineyard going. But if we don't identify those that are toxic to the cause don't be surprised when so many vines die. I don't think that Jake R and JackstrawfromCo would be expressing these concerns if carolina boy didn't have a history. Has he reseeded the vines that disappeared when sent to him ? A show of good faith? I can't be the 'vine cop' and I have watched as that role has unfortunately burnt out several of my brothers in the Vineyard. And they are gone. FYI- I have reseeded many CDs to get vines back on track here, both with the vines I started and ones that were seeded by others. Saying that isn't to expect praise but to offer that I have invested in the Vineyard, and have been given back far more than I have put into this wonderful space. The Wheel does go round.. I will say to those on the vineyard that our history is right here to view. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. Teachers open the door, but you must enter by yourself.

Mark, I completely agree with u. Idk if he thinks enough time has passed and we forgot but I certainly have not. I wholeheartedly encourage a banishment of him from any vines he is on. I too do not speak ill of anyone; this has always been a great community. But if any vines he is on gets sent to him and not passed along I too will be done with this place.

you guys I know I don't come around here much anymore but the vineyard will always be a place I will cherish, for the music and the people who formed this community. I am probably coming across like a big ol jerk here but I don't care because this guy here .. carolina boy ... single handily took the vineyard down. a bunch of us went to a lot of work to reseed all the vines he STOLE from here. I'm getting emotional right now because I must sound like an asshole but I don't care ... i just hope someone from the old days who remembers backs me up... please do not trade with him ... I mean actually do whatever you want but I know what he did to the vineyard and I am letting you all know

I felt kinda groovy after listening to the 12/6/73 China; whereas with the 2/24/74 China, I had to put myself back together, so it must have been MLB. I'll continue researching this weekend.

Dark Stars

OK, so this has nothing to do with the Vineyard, but I thought it was cool. There is this theoritical stuff in the universe called "dark matter." Scientists believe it exists because there is too much gravity in galaxies to be attributed to common visible matter. Any way, they now theorize that there are stars made up of the stuff spewing energy. When the time came to give these stars a name, "Dark Stars" won out in homage to the Grateful Dead, and to a lesser extent CSN. Pretty cool. Any vine in my mailbox today should go out tomorrow. Otherwise, I will be away on Christmas adventures and escapades until Jan 4. So anything that shows up after tomorrow will go out first week of the new year.

this topic IS sticky. Functionally this means it goes to the top of the heap in the Vineyard, from what I can tell, but it only applies within the directory.

This has nothing to do with vines...

but have any of you had the chance to get The Jerry Garcia Collection, Vol. 2: Jerry Garcia Band, Keystone Berkeley '75? I have been listening to it all day and it keeps getting better. The "Let it Rock" that appears on it is a little slower than usual, but crystal clear. A good copy of this song is hard to find too. Anyway it's great, I recommend it.

Going out of town

Hey all, I'm heading to San Fran here in a bit and will be back this weekend. I will try to take care of any vines that come my way by early next week. with the new decade upon us, I figure we're about due for a new New Vines topic. I figure I will just copy over the header info from the 2009 topic. If anyone things this is a bad idea speak up now!

I have a music list : )

This is the first time I have compiled a list of everything that I have. It took me a few days of typing (pecking really). I deleted around 900 gigabytes of music that I was more or less "archiving" and never listed to. I haven't got around to making a list for the Grateful Dead or Jerry Garcia Band yet,(maybe next Christmas vacation) but this is pretty much every other band that I collect. I have already sent it to a couple of you that I trade with, if any one else want to see it PM me I will send it to you.

List of Filenames

You can build a list of the contents of a drive in a few short key strokes.1. Open a command prompt (CMD) 2. change to the drive you want to list C:\Users\Rick>g; 3. Type in dir /b /s /a:d >show.txt (you may call it what ever you wish) This will create a text file in the G drive called show.txt if you would like an Excel file use the .xls extension. Luckily I started mine right after I got started with this whole wonderfull thing. If anyone would like me to send you mine let me know. I really need a TB harddrive. I work with this 80gig one on my laptop, and burn everything to cd, which I would probably still do, but I'd like to start keeping all of the lossless files. I just discovered 2 trojans ,Trojan:java/selace.L , Trojan:java/selace.K and Exploit:java/CVE-2008-5353.C . Anyone know anything about this ? I know this come from tapecity because it is the only site i used this past two day`s .

Rumor from other boards is that the boys over at PlanetRock were fighting a pretty nasty trojan a day or two ago. Never have been to ether place myself but do a deep scan every couple of days to keep yourself bug free.Peace Rick

My virus scanner picked up on it as soon as the web page would open. I didn't even have to download anything. My scanner always stoped it before it got into my system though.

yea pomo, I just realized I`ve been here 2 years and 6 weeks . seems like only yesturday I had the KFFM vine . my very first vine and first time with shn/flac . am now working on my third HD and I don`t know how many dvd`s of video and shn/flac . wow man.. I am happy to see the vineyard still growing

Especially in the direction of the flac files being traded here. I think we have grown quite a nice library of music to choose from. I am surprised the membership has stayed so small. There are some sites that have hundreds of people trading and half the music that we do. I am thankful to be a part of it.

just got more dvd`s

and i got home to realize i have one spindle of dvd-r and a spindle of dvd+r , does anyone know what the difference is between the two ? I`ve been using +R`s but have no idea if I should take these back or go ahead and use the -R`s . any advise ? Thanks , Stu ..

DVD's

I find DVD+R's work better in DVD players if your making movies. I think they both work good for file storage though.

I am finishing up listening to spring and summer 79 and will vine the "best of" those tours soon. I still have to listen to a bunch of the 1980 acoustic shows, and will vine those sometime in the next month or two. And I recently acquired the rest of 1970, just about everything after 9/20, and will probably vine the whole thing. Hope everyone had a joyful holiday season and here's to another great year in the vineyard!

N. NE wish vine

I have this vine and it is waiting for a taker! There are flac files included but there are also all the shows on CD-R's (18 total!) which kind of sucks but oh well. Hey all...Just leafing through this week's Sports Illustrated magazine (Jan 25th) and noticed a piece written on Jim Irsay, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts.... I was interested in the article for many reasons.... none of which I guess I need to go into here.... but right there on Page 57 in the picture with Irsay is Jerry's Tiger. I remember that Irsay bought it many years ago... among many other interesting purchases... the guitar is not mentioned in the article but Stephen Stills and other references are made.... Thought you might find that curious.... I did. Be well all. Raymond
