The Dead Covers Project

What a wonderful month it's been, sharing our love of the Grateful Dead through song and video! We applaud all the hard work and effort that you, the fans, put into the DEAD COVERS PROJECT, and we hope you'll continue to watch and support all the amazing participant videos on YouTube until we fire up the DEAD COVERS PROJECT again next February.

Throughout the month of April, we'll be shining our lovelight on a handful of artists that really made the grade. You'll get to know each of these five artists and find out just what made them connect with the Dead in our exclusive DEAD COVERS PROJECT profiles, but for now we'd simply like to congratulate the following participants (in no particular order)...

Now Playing In The Band...

The project may be over for 2012, but you can continue to check out some of the "Top Rated" videos that were submitted and "Like" them here.

Thanx Everyone!

I'd like to thank The Grateful Dead Family & Community for The Dead Covers Project!
I've had a great time this month checking out all of the FANTASTIC videos that everyone has been submitting. What a great idea in the first place. Considering the response, I hope that this will carry on longer than originally intended. I haven't been able to check out all of the submissions; there's been so many!!!! I know that a lot of Deadheads might have had some difficulty with my interpretation of Franklin's Tower by bliss, in that it did not sound very much like the original. My personal philosophy is that as long as one stays true to the ORIGINAL SPIRIT of the song, then that gives them poetic license to create their own version! I hope to meet some of you at shows this Summer. I go to a lot!

Thanks again to everyone for all of this incredible music!

Peace & bliss,

We Can Run

Didn't see any other covers of this, so I posted mine. My voice is a little off, and I messed up some, but I just love the song.

Old recording of Stagger Lee

Not really a video, just a recording from a few years ago of me trying for the Jerry-John Kahn acoustic version of the song.

My video may have been overlooked due to a YouTube glitch

I think my video may have been overlooked due to a YouTube glitch:

I uploaded my video ("Headlight - The Wheel 9/4/11") on February 20 and tagged it "DeadCoversProject." However, it did not show up in YouTube's search results for "DeadCoversProject" for several days, unlike several videos which immediately showed up in a search for "DeadCoversProject" on February 20th, the same day they were uploaded. Today, the video still has only 17 views, and I still can't find the video on the gratefuldead YouTube channel, so I think the delay in my video showing up in search results for "DeadCoversProject" may have resulting in you not knowing it was there!

Since this is the last day to submit videos, I thought I should notify you about this...

Here's the video:
