    change the tour page
Can the administrators please change the two Furthur "On Tour" pages? This tour is loooong finished and the band is on a break from, what, its second tour since this one ended. It would be good to have a current Furthur "On Tour" page rather than a very outdated one. Thanks for considering.

I ordered my Portland tickets and went for the reserved seatingas I can't walk very well anymore and running for a good seat is out. I hope this venue treats the disabled better on this tour than they did at the gorge, that was totally disgusting the way they made us wait in line and then stand around and wait to taken down into the venue in golf carts 3 at a time. As always I'll be doing an alphabetical song list of the tour.

I paid about $55 for my tickets for the Asbury show and $50 for the AC show in Feb. Beats the $100+ for the Dead tour! And the smaller venues are far more exciting that the big arenas. For me the Asbury show (12/12) was truly magical, not just for the music or who was playing what, but the energy that came from the band, the wonderful people around me (thank you again for your wonderful kindness) and the venue (great old place by the sea--think perfect place to hear Ship of Fools/Peggy-O!). I have only the best wishes for JK and just can only imagine the feelings he must have playing those songs with Bobby and Phil--wow! For those asking about the GA seats, I was unsure too, but I suggest you take them! I have been strictly a seat person myself, but my GA tickets were great, especially in a smaller venue. I do have reserved seats for the AC show (last row in the back--oh well!), but I am just happy that I will be there! Take care and have fun out there in the New Year < : } Inspiration, move me brightly.

Oakland definately was sweet. The energy in that building for three nights was a feeling that cant be described. Like the old Dead. Everyone didnt know what to expect those nights and it build up the energy. They were playing on that level last night and I can see thay are much more comfortable with each other.

Regarding the New Year's shows in SF: I thought both shows were great! First night seemed a little tighter to me, but both nights' set lists are sweet. I give Phil credit for giving the Heads what they want. No throwaway songs, and no lengthy Space. Great to be in the city for New Year's - brought back memories of my first NY's at the same venue in '83-84. These shows were better, there I said it. Nice to see Phil so happy. Kadlicek definitely hangs back vocally on some key Jerry parts, but it seems more reverential, and out of respect to Bob and Phil. But at other times he really steps up to the mic, and it totally works for me. I don't know, maybe Phil is keeping him down, but he played really well, and the fit is obvious. I like the back up singers, too. They helped smooth things out vocally. But who were they? They should have been introduced!NY's was a long show 8-1:30 (or so), and the third set was a tad ragged, but the energy was right, and Golden Road was sweet, to say the least! It was a party. Frankly that 2nd set that went until 11:45, was what blew my doors! Loved that Floyd stuff, and loved the After Midnight. "Time" was epic, the way Phil hit those subsonic notes we're all so familiar with from tripping to Dark Side as kids - good stuff. I heard a couple people moaning about the drummer's rhythmic abilities, and sure you hear the issues with complex songs like St. Stephen, and Unbroken Chain, but I appreciate the energy they brought. We're spoiled by the relationship Billy and Mickey built over 40 years. No other drumming combo will be able to come close to that. Anyway, I had a blast. Love the Bill Graham Civic - great venue for what I considered to be a Phil and Friends show, with Bob attached at the hip.

Re: A Phil & Friends show w/Bob attached at the hip? That comment was uncalled for, but all have the right to their opinion. I feel this is a blend of all the members, new and old, pitching in equally with Phil & Bob having rights to the arrangements and vocals. Comment about the drummers was totally apt though -- hard to fill those shoes. These shows were a little off compared to the Fox shows and and large chunks of Asbury, Hammerstein and, of course, Wallingford. But, then again, they were always a bit off for most of the New Years shows back in the day. Lucky ducks, thems that got tickets for the Mill Valley shows. Kudos to the boys for putting in the effort before this tour! We all are so very grateful (well, most of us anyway) to still be able to hear this music played live w/some of the original krew adding a twist of something new. ~ This is the season of what now ~

Wow, I can't believe the set list from NYE. National Guard guy here near the end of my second tour in Iraq. I missed all the Dead shows in 2004 (First tour in Iraq). Caught the East Coast opener last year in Greensboro, then off to Iraq again. Well, I bought two tickets for Deleware. Atlantic City was sold out. Got my first grandchild on the way due sometime between March 4 and 11, but I had to get to at least one show. Looking for some older heads to hang out with in Deleware. I plan to be bringing my 16 year old daughter who I'm trying to convert from Emo to real music. Feel free to post me a comment or email me at domirwin@yahoo.com. By the way, thanks to the guy I met last year in Greensboro if you're out there. You were wearing an Obama shirt and the pizza topping was great.

Got a last minute ticket 12/12 at Asbury Park. Stood right in front of the soundboard guy, who stripped off his shirt and was dancing his butt off during the second set. My first band I truly loved were the Allmans. Duane was IT for me. When he died, I could never imagine the band ever sounding the same. Then, 1989 comes along and Warren joins the band. The band experienced a rebirth, with many times finding myself closing my eyes and swearing I was back at the Fillmore East back in the day. To those on archive.org and here who are ripping JK, it makes no sense to me. To quote- "ya ain't gonna learn what you don't want to know". I say be very thankful there is the core of Bobby and Phil with the help of Jeff and John playing these wonderful songs. They have aged as well as the wines from Sonoma and Napa. I'm not alone is saying the vibe is back. To continue in regard to John, who says OCD is a bad thing? Turn off the hate and listen! For example, just take a listen to the way they are doing Viola Lee Blues - it has the feel and exact vibe of the original band. Loved hearing Brown Eyed Women, Greatest Story Ever Told, Wharf Rat, and on and on. No other incarnation- The Dead, Ratdog or PLF has it as close to the original as this band. I am pumped up to know I am going to see them again on 2/27 in AC, NJ. If you have a chance, seeing is truly believing.

Broomfield is in the burbs, so it is mostly chains, and there are plenty to chose from just a few exits in either direction. The best choice I know of near there is a brewpub at 104th and I-36 called BJ's Brewpub. I think it is owned by Old Chicago, but the beer is good and food reliable. If you want local, you are probably better off in Denver or Boulder. See you at the show!

Despite them calling it the grand opening. They just changed the name to Odeum Colorado. It's the old Broomfield sports complex (which wasn't that old at all). And deadsox is right - if you want good beer from a brewery you best be heading to Boulder or even Denver. There is not a whole lot around that area except for chain food. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere but right off of 2 major high ways - I25 and Boulder Turnpike. I haven't been down there in awhile but they have been doing a lot of building out that way so maybe there are some new places to eat/drink close to the venue. I just found out that the Odeum in Colorado has been renamed the 1st Bank Center - (before it ever opened as the Odeum!) So if you are headed here from out of town you want to be looking for the 1st Bank Center - not the Odeum - as you head up the Boulder Turnpike (I-36)

although the Hard Rock was like being in a over packed tuna can, overly secure and a bit too commercial the show really rocked - After Midnight just jammed from start to finish they were sounding great - if you got the disc you know what a joy to hear it all again - I loved Greensboro last year but this was something special as I am sure the whole tour was and will be - for those of us lucky enough to get tixx kudos

From the very first notes of Alabama Getaway to the breakneck ending of Casey Jones, the first set in Asheville last nite was spellbinding. Set list goes as follows:Alabama Getaway (perfect) Mama Tried (Bob missed a couple of verses) Pride of Cucamonga (one of Phil's best) Loose Lucy (rocking, smooth transition into...) Silvio (highlight of the show for me, entire band firing on all cylinders, backup ladies, right on in their harmonies) Loser (we miss you Jerry) Hell in a Bucket (Bob hits it and band follows with a rocking slightly extended version) Casey Jones (another highlight, starts off slow, builds speed, builds speed, speeding down the tracks now, still accelerating, wow, this thing is going fast) and you know that notion, just crossed my miiiiiiinnnnnd. What a set. Show started 20 mins late, 50 min break inbetween sets. Second set was mellow, with a great Shakedown opener that wandered around, with what sounded like some Slipknot in there, to a wonderful reading of He's Gone, with 15 "He's gone, nothin's gonna bring him back" at the end (Jerry), into a beautiful Birdsong, done very well and appropriate for the "snow and rain" was starting to come down outside. Serging into Unbroken Chain, complete with sound effects and rain sticks, moving into Magnolia Mountain, a tune I had not heard before, different and seemed kinda out of place in the set, but listenable, to Strawberry Fields, totally unexpected and slow, both Mag Mountain and Fields were slow and not in my opinion of the calibre of the first set or anything before them. JK's heartfelt rendition of Stella Blue was right on, there was that moment of utter silence that would have been just exactly perfect if those rookies behind and in front of us had just shut up. I don't know about anyone else, but who gives a rat's ass what you did before the show or what you are gonna do after the show, if you want to talk during a beautiful version of Stella, stay home, show a little class. Not Fade away finished the show, with a 10 min sing along at the end, complete with the whole joint clapping and singing along to "love is real, not fade away" Phil's donor rap, which I have heard a lot since his transplant and to this day, I can only make out a few words, organ donor, be one, save a life, etc..., all good things, but Phil, please slow down and stop mumbling, I just can't understand a word you say. :) Sugar Magnolia, Sunshine Daydream sends us out into the cold rain and snow, for a short(thankfully) ride home. I miss the rythum devils, drums and space defined the second set to me and it just ain't the same without them. Of course, impossible to do a truly classic space without Jer, but we still have BK&MH. Way to much security, I thought they were gonna start strip searching, ticketless gatecrashers slipping in thru the smokers area, hundreds of ticketless and not a ticket to be found. overall, a great show, better than the dead last spring, now, if we can just get Billy and Mickey to sign onto this band, oooohh, the posibilities. silver and gold, won't buy back the beat of a heart grown cold, Silvio, I gotta go, find out something only dead men know Bob Dylan
