Here are a few that come to mind among many:

8/29/80 Philly (actually, the 8/29-8/31 run would make a pretty good boxed set)
8/4/76 from Colt Park in Hartford
10/14 and 10/15/84 also from Hartford

Yes, I know no SBD historically exists in the vault, but has it shown up? Or how about an offshoot series of audience recordings, say 10 volumes to start to see what the interest is. Have the taper of each show write up the notes.

    Shows we'd like to see....

7.2.88 Oxford Plains Speedway, Oxford, ME would be my pick for a show I'd like to see put out. I know 7.3 has already been released on "30 Trips", so maybe it's been considered and then passed over, but 7.2 is the finest example of what the GD experience was, in my opinion. In terms of song selection, quality of jams and overall feel; this night is most deserving of getting the royal treatment.
Picking your favorite Dead Show has always been like picking your favorite flavor of ice cream. Suffice it to say, I really like ice cream and this night is one of my favorite flavors!

Sorry, I did this wrong earlier, posted as a comment to someone else's request rather than a new post. So: the point is that 1972.10.18 Fox Theater St. Louis is one of the finest shows from the finest tour of the finest year. I'd love to hear your magicians clean it up and release it in it's entirety!

The one show I would MOST like to see released in the Dave's Picks series is the incredible 1972.10.18 Fox Theater St. Louis show. The Playin > Dark Star > Morning Dew > Playin is simply mind blowing. This is also the first time the Dead split up Playin. They wouldn't do it again until over a year later on 10/21/73. Pretty please?

As much as I love Three From the Vault, I have always been disappointed that the entire 5-show run from the Capitol Theater in February 1971 wasn't released as a box set. (Perhaps just cheekily skipping 3 and 4 and called Five From the Vault, haha.) After all, they were all recorded on multitracks.

I suppose that with Three From the Vault, it's too late for a boxed set of all five shows, but at the very least, the multitracks from 1971-02-18 should be mixed down and released. First Bertha. That Dark Star > [first] Wharf Rat > Dark Star > Me & My Uncle. A great, great show, with Ned Lagin and his magical tinkling clavichord and the last we'd see/hear from Mickey for five years.

    This is such a no-brainer.

I’m thinking based on the clue offered for Dave’s 50, specifically the reference to “show (shows…?)” and the timing being right,… leads me to believe the show is the Watkins Glen summer jam and the bonus disc is the sound check. I did some quick math at archive.org and it looks like the show would fit on three discs with about 15 min to spare, and that the sound check would almost fit on one, with the need for last song on the other discs.

As is well known, there are Owsley tapes for both days and even though widely available (in so so quality) already, this show deserves the official release, plangent process and all. Here’s hoping I’m right on this guess.
