Isn't "Never Trust A Woman" the correct title of "Good Time Blues"? I saw this on the 09/25/81 Stabler Arena show Setlist. I always enter it as Never Trust A Woman on my setlists. "Never trust a woman who wears tight pants ..." Rock on Brent!

enigmadeadhead I cannot view the set list for dec.19, 1994.I think this was the last show i saw before Jerry's passing ,but i can't be sure untill i see the set list. if it is i'd like to order it

Correction: Fire on the Mountain does not appear on the set list on this page. This Lindley Meadows show was one of my favorites. I am sure they played Fire on the Mountain because it is the first place I ever heard it played. I remember remarking to my friend how awesome it sounded bumping along and teasing in its intro and jam. I don't recall how it was placed in the setlist though. Aren't there recordings of this concert to verify what was played from? I remember seeing mics in the air and a mixing board area in the middle of the crowd that had to be negotiated around.

You have two postings fo 10-29-68 at the matrix. Is the second 29 the 30th? Or were there actually two shows on the 29th???

I was there and I know the encore was not U.S. Blues, not sure about the rest or what the encore was. -ht

I have the biggest problem with this show. Not so much with the set list, nor with the opener. I know the Starship/Airplane (whatever incarnation) opened for them that day. The problem I have is that the concert wasn't held at Lindley Meadows. I remember it being held at Marx Meadow and sitting on the hill overlooking the stage looking down. If you know Golden Gate Park (I've lived in San Francisco since 1973), the only place you can do that is at Marx Meadow. Lindley Meadows is way to open for me to do that. For the last seven years I've worked on the staff of the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival that puts up stages at Speedway, Marx, and Lindley Meadows (90 performers on 5 stages over 3 days) and I know the venue very well. I still think that it was Marx Meadow for this concert. I need to have a little more info to help me prove that it was Lindley Meadow. Thanks. Also, I don't see mention of a free concert that they played at the Cow Palace for an old stereo outfit called Pacific Stereo. They gave away thousands of tickets to the concert but didn't let everyone in and a riot ensued with broken windows and cops in riot gear. I seem to remember a retail stereo show for gear followed by a concert with a couple of bands that included The Starship and The Grateful Dead. Phil was playing on the right side of the stage just above me and the music was really loud with notes coming out of the speakers like bubbles and popping over the audience. Then some lady came out on stage and said that she just wanted everyone to just please go home now. We left the Cow Palace to our car through a line of cops with nightsticks and riot gear - it scared the hell out of us. Anyway, memory gets fuzzy at that point. I'm not sure if the whole weekend was involved or if this was "the big night" or not. I have a feeling that the Butterfield Blues Band is in there somewhere. I don't remember the date though, sorry.

I remember going to that Pacific Stereo free show at the Cow Palace. I think it was 1969, but I'm not 100% on that. What I do remember is that there were lots of fights in the stands during that show. This show was the reason I didn't go to Altamont (another free show), I went to shows for the music and to have a good time, not to get into fights. I've NEVER regretted skipping Altamont.

A couple issues for the 3/5/71 listing: The notes are for the Airwaves Benefit which was on 3/3/71. Also the 3/5/71 poster says the show was held at the Oakland Auditorium Arena (aka the Kaiser). The dead.net listing says Fillmore West. Does anyone if it actually was held at Fillmore West?

This listing is kind of screwy - it says this show was at the Syndrome. The Syndrome was in Chicago so that can't be right. Poster says it was at the Carousel Ballroom (Fillmore West). Also, the "previous show" link takes you to 3/18/71! And the "next show" link takes you to 3/4/70. I know time could get kind of funky at shows but still...

I'm guessing all the confusion is due to the fact that the 3/3/71 poster actually says 3/3/70 so that show originally must've been listed as 3/3/70. hi.clearly, someone just made a typing error here. in your listing for set II, scarlet>fire is erroneously repeated after samson. in other words, here is the correct reading for 2/5/78 set 2: Scarlet>Fire, Samson, Ship of Fools, Truckin'>Jam>Drums>Other One>Wharf Rat>Around and Around E: U.S. Blues peace.

It's All Over Now, Baby Blue is the correct encore tune.Looking for a clean copy of the 2nd set, as my cd has vanished!

I have an old cassette boot of this and I am on some sort of trivial personal crusade to set the record straight about this show ... Joan Baez came out after the Dead finished US Blues and introduced the members of the band, then she called all the musicians that had performed that day out onto the stage, and they all sang a Joan staple titled "Bridging the Gap." So Amazing Grace DOES NOT follow US Blues as stated here and elsewhere ... I can prove it.

If you look at the comments following Alabama Getaway on lyrics page, it says it was played once on 23 Apr 84. According to setlist for the 23rd it wasn't but was played 27 Apr 84 at Providence Civic Center as opener. I know this is true was there. Thanks

April 10, 1971- Franklin and Marshall College. It's not there. But it happened. There are lots of good AUD masters floating around and I know people who went. Also a bunch of the 1971 shows don't have set lists. Let me know if you want me to put them together for you.

All those commemorative shirts mugs etc. say 11 members. Jerry Bob Phil Pigpen Billy Mickey Tom Keith Donna Brent Vince Bruce I count 12. Who doesn't count? Bruce? Tom? I just want someone to clarify that for me.

I would say Bruce where he kinda just played a few times when Vince was there. I don't really consider him a band member. Kinda like Clarence Clemons I've seen him a few times with the dead and he's not a member. Doesn't seem like being the keyboardist for the dead is a cursed position.

According to Deadlists and my copy of the show, the boys opened with Morning Dew. The Dead.net list starts off with Schoolgirl, which actually came second. Thanks. "Let there be songs to fill the air."

I have one small correction in the set list for 10-10-1981 to make. In the first set, “Big River” was not played. this venue was not on the 24th; it was on the 26...i was there. the soldier field shows were first, then the riverport shows happened. the soldier field and riverport shows, as they are listed in teh shows page both have a date of july 24th. although i wish it was, that's just not possible. can't wait for the spring tour of the dead! i turn 40 in february...you guys have made my year! i'm on the bus!

It is a minor detail, to be sure, but Los Lobos played at this gig. I believe they were before Santana. Jerry came out and played some licks when Los Lobos did Bertha.

Phils first show? You sure about that????? Thought this was the Dead's first show as Grateful Dead...? Well, anyway you look at it "...at least I'm enjoyin' the ride- Ow!"

There was a Playin' reprise this night between GDTRFB and Black Muddy River. I was there, and tape/archive.org back it up.This was the show that started real late because they had to turn the Spectrum from afternoon wrestling.

I was at the 10-31-85 show at the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia, SC and have an audience tape from Dave Cramer to back it. The normal drums and space this night were replaced by: Mickey solo> Bill solo> Bill jam with guitarists (space was in the first set that fun night.)

Set 2 opened with a short Space followed by a short version of Miles' So What. Personal observation, backed by tape.

The set opener on 3-24-90 in Albany was Let the Good Times Roll, not Good Times Blues. I was there on the risers at the back of the floor.
