Holy S#%*! It’s the COMPLETE Europe ’72 Box! On Over 60 Discs!

    $450.00
    Europe '72:
    The Complete Recordings

Hey now! Due to overwhelming demand, surprising even those of us with huge faith in the Europe '72 project, the entire limited edition run of 7,200 boxed sets has sold out in less than 4 days. We thank you beyond words for your support and belief in this unprecedented and wonderful release.

After lengthy discussions, we've decided we don't want to deprive anyone of this music, some of the finest the Grateful Dead ever performed. Of course, we're keeping to our promise that the boxed set and all of its accouterments will not be made available beyond these 7,200 boxed sets (and wait until you see the case in which the music is housed, the hard-bound coffee-table book, plus all of the other cool surprises we've been unearthing!). But, we're going to offer just the music, all 22 shows, more than 60 CDs, more than 70 hours of music, each show housed in its own packaging, for the same price as the boxed set, $450 including domestic shipping. Although perhaps not as cool as the boxed set, the bottom line is that the most important aspect of Europe '72: The Complete Recordings is going to be made available to all, the music.

Because you dared dream this might happen one day… Because you went down to the Gypsy Woman and offered up your first-born to try to make it happen… Because there are enough passionate Dead Heads at Rhino/GD who thought it might be cool for this to happen… It’s happening! Coming in September is a gargantuan, beautifully designed EUROPE ’72 MEGA-BOX SET containing ALL 22 SHOWS of what is arguably the greatest tour the Grateful Dead ever played, on a whopping 60+ DISCS (over 70 hours of music!). Bet you didn’t see that comin’!

Really, at this point we probably don’t need to lay on too much hype about how wonderful the music is: Chances are, if you’re even considering buying a copy of this stunning box, you already know how amazing the Dead’s tour of Europe in April and May of 1972 was. To review briefly, though, the Dead’s first tour outside of North America took them to all sorts of historic and unusual venues in England, Denmark, West Germany, France, Holland and even tiny Luxembourg. Many members of the Dead “family” came along on what was really an extended working vacation that was designed to both expose the Dead to new audiences and also reward the band for their unlikely conquest of America during the preceding two years. As a hedge against the costs of the nearly two-month trip, the Dead’s label, Warner Bros., paid for the band to lug around a 16-track recorder to capture the entire tour… and we’re glad they did!

This was a band at the top of its game, still ascending in the wake of three straight hit albums — Workingman’s Dead, American Beauty and the live Grateful Dead (“Skull & Roses”). It had been a year since the lineup had gone to its single-drummer configuration, six months since Keith Godchaux had been broken in as the group’s exceptional pianist, and this marked the first tour to feature Donna Godchaux as a member of the touring band. There was a ton on new, unreleased material that came into the repertoire in the fall of ’71 (after “Skull & Roses” was out) and during the spring of ’72, including “Tennessee Jed,” “Jack Straw,” “Mexicali Blues,” “He’s Gone,” “Comes A Time,” “Ramble on Rose,” “One More Saturday Night,” “Black-Throated Wind,” “Looks Like Rain” and Pigpen’s “Chinatown Shuffle,” “The Stranger (Two Souls in Communion)” and “Mr. Charlie.” (Sadly, this was Pigpen’s final tour.) All those future classics were interspersed with songs from the aforementioned “hit” albums—such as “Uncle John’s Band,” “Brokedown Palace,” “Cumberland Blues,” “Casey Jones,” “Sugar Magnolia,” “Bertha,” “Not Fade Away,” et al — and then were topped off by loads of big jamming numbers — the Europe ’72 tour produced spectacular versions of “Dark Star,” “The Other One” “Playing in the Band,” “Truckin’,” “China Cat Sunflower” > “I Know You Rider,” “Good Lovin’,” “Lovelight” and even the early Pig chestnut “Caution.” And that’s leaving out a truckload of other tunes, too! There wasn’t a clunker show in the bunch, and many are acknowledged today as classics. No doubt you already have some favorites.

Through the years, there have been a few releases of material from the Europe tour—starting with the 3-album Europe ’72 which knocked our socks off in the fall of that year, and followed many years later by material from a pair of German shows and the fantastic 4-CD Stepping Out, culled from the group’s eight shows in England. Incredibly, though, only one full show from the tour has come out previously: the excellent 4/24 concert in Dusseldorf, Germany, released as Rockin’ the Rhein in 2004.

Until now, that is. Jeffrey Norman, who has been the primary mixer of Dead archival multi-track material for the past 15 years (Fillmore West ’69, Ladies and Gentlemen…, Rockin’ the Rhein, Nightfall of Diamonds, etc.) has spent many months toiling over the 16-track masters from the tour, and will continue working on the mixes through the Winter and Spring, employing the high-tech Plangent Processes transfer and restoration tools, trying to get every show to sound “just exactly perfect” (as Bob Weir says) for this release. You might think you’ve heard that intense “Dark Star” > “Sugar Mag” > “Caution” from Copenhagen, but I guarantee you’ve never heard it sound this alive! Mastering to HDCD specs is two-time Grammy-winning engineer David Glasser of Airshow Mastering. Needless to say, all the songs that turned up on previous Europe compilations will be appear in their proper show contexts, and in the case of songs from the Europe ’72 album, without overdubs that were added later (where possible).

The packaging is, as you might expect, first rate. Each show is its own Digipak, with its own liner notes by top Dead scholars (including David Gans, Steve Silberman, and Nicholas Meriwether) and attendees of some of the concerts, and many never-before-seen photos. Additionally, there is an enormous book worthy of coffee table treatment featuring hundreds more photos and a comprehensive essay by yours truly (Blair Jackson). The box will also contain other memorabilia and ephemera from the tour.

A rough sketch of the potential packaging.
Check back soon for more product images.

At $450, this clearly will not be a box for everyone. In fact, this individually numbered boxed set will be limited to orders placed with a maximum of 7,200 boxes produced. As a special bonus, the first 3,000 orders will receive a personalized copy. Due to the huge manufacturing costs (wait 'til you see it! We're doing something unlike any other boxed set release ever! It's exceptional!!), we need to hit 3,000 sales before we even go into production. If we don't reach 3,000 by April 1st, the boxed set won't be able to happen. This isn't a gun-to-your-head sales pitch. Rather, we want to be open with you about the realities of this release's massive scope and ambition.

    -->

So dig deep, raid the penny jar, take a weekend job at Jack-in-the-Box, beg your kindly ol’ grandma for some of your inheritance early… Yes, it’s an extravagance, but jeez, you (or your loved one) deserve it! This is way cool.

    The dead.net surprised me!
My story is also a long road but with a happy ending! I like many out there waited too long when the box began to sell waiting to see what would happen. So soon after i kicked myself i purchased the all music edition which i figured thats all i need just to listen to it. So all this time went by for all of us and the boxes started shipping , then the all music editions were going out and i got nothing so i was wondering why. Then a pal of mine said he ordered his 1 week before they started shipping and received his all music edition and mine still nothing and i ordered mine early i was pissed!! I called for 2 weeks and was told each time that there was delays i told them about my friend they said he got lucky. So finally i called 1 last time and spoke with a great guy who told me my box had shipped out I thanked him and said finally!! So 4 days later ups shows up at the door with a huge box all taped up i was like what kind of box is this? I opened it up to find a brand new steamer trunk! I was blown away i called dead.net back and talked to the same great person again and he told me that i was 1 of 100 people who were upgraded for ordering early for orders that fell through!! After all the waiting, wondering the dead.net came through big time and i got lucky! So to all that have been taking a beating from the dead family for issues I thank you !!!!

I am terribly bummed to have found out about this way too late to get the boxed set. I've been a loyal fan and can't believe you are going to deny me the opportunity to be in the "clique" of box set owners. Especially since there are people selling these on eBay now for $1500-2000!! I believe the right thing to do is to limit box orders to one per person, and if they want multiples, they should get the non-boxed sets. That might actually make it possible for fans like me to be able to get the boxed version.... Either that, or create more boxed versions for those of us who have written cards for mail-order tickets for years.... it was bad enough that I didn't get tix to NYE, and now this. It really does break my dead little heart. rats

I can't imagine that anyone would put up that kind of money now for something that's not shipping for nine months. The eBay seller gets the money right away, and who knows if you'll hear from them in September. This said, I seriously think that one should not be allowed to buy multiple sets...

that people are selling something on e bay that doesn't even exist yet. Kinda like speculating in the Futures Stock Market, it seems to me. Not to mention how unscrupulous it is!!!!!!!!! Please don't buy any codes from these guys-wait and see what happens when the product has actually been released!!********************************** I am not young enough to know everything. Why not give regisered dead.net users of six months or more who have made some purchases from the dead.net store get first crack at one box set. For a limited time than make it available one per to everyone else. Skulltap

This is very frustrating. I immediately tried to register for the box set when I got that email a few nights ago. Waited, waited ...no response at all....and then saw the post that the box was sold out but that we can order just the music. OK. Cool. I then submitted for just the music and wait, wait wait again...still no response at all...Everything is moving here must too slowly! The faster we go the rounder we get!

The decision to limit the number of boxes is terrible. I was at the Newcastle show (photos of Garcia backstage with a can of Newcastle Brown Ale) and was looking forward to the whole product - not just the discs. And why no international orders? There are still a few of us left in Europe!!

So I was one of the few people who got an order placed and confirmed last week; I think it was Friday morning (French time), when there seems to have been a brief window when the site worked. I got a confirmation e-mail, but every time I tried to check my order status, it showed that there was nothing for my e-mail address. So when reservations were offered, I put my e-mail address in, and got an e-mail about that yesterday. Today, I ordered from the reservation code, and got confirmation; also, the order status shows the order. So while I may have two orders pending, I am sure to at least have one. If I can get through to customer service (whose phone numbers seem to only work a few minutes a day), I'll make sure to cancel the first one, if it is indeed recorded. In short, this has been a very big mess, but I hope it'll be worth the trouble.

Order placed and acknowledged, now just need to sell my wife to finance the purchase. Seriously, though, I'm kinda glad that I didn't check this forum yesterday, would have started the "where's my code, WHERE'S MY CODE!!" panic after browsing through the comments. Reserved on Friday, got my code email at about 5 pm Sunday.

I insist, every Grateful Dead product released by GDM: --Must be released in the format I prefer; --Must be sold at a price I agree with; --Must be made available in perpetuity Signed, Entitled Child Note well, my demands apply to "free" releases as well -- those too must be kept in stock forever, in the format I prefer. PS I reserve the right to increase my demands at any point.

Thanks to all of you who ever (Jackson?, Lemieux?) made this release possible. It must have been hard work to convince people who make economical decisions in Rhino that something like this could be profitable. Who would ever have guessed the demand? I was worried if we are going to make that first 3000 preorders needed. Some of us got the special package and everyone is anyway getting the music. So all is well that ends well. Keep up the good work.

what a frustrating week this was .lol. i was just happening to visit the site the day this all went down. tried to order this thing a MILLION times and the site kept crashing. then when the email reservation thing came out, i couldn't remember any of my login info...lol. so i had to start fresh with a new one. a day later i get an email. last night at 7pm (1/23) i get my code. since i work 2nd shift i didnt get this email till i woke up this morning. so, about 10 mins ago on 1/24 i punched in my code for a personalized copy. i didnt know what to put, so i just used my name.lol. then i get to the part in the order where you can order as much as you would like???? IMO thats just wrong. It should be 1 per person.

please open the box set up to more than the 7,200 as way more people want it and many of us never heard about it until it was already sold out. as a long time fan, i've done my mail orders, dead.net store purchases, etc and to have ebay sites, etc. gobbling up content that loyal fans could have is not right. please reconsider!!!

selling just the music for the same price as the whole box seems a little crazy...or is it just me? it seems like the box, book, etc is a big part of this. if just the discs are going to be available i would expect there to be a significant reduction in price in addition i think rhino should limit these to one per person and create as many as are needed - this box has obliviously been plagued by tech issues etc in making a purchase - i don't think customers should be "penalized" for that if they want to buy this box

Fucking ridiculous! The mind boggles! What if the first to order was some a-hole with an AM-EX Platinum card and ordered 7200 copies! It could have happened, this is the "Land of the free". I was just lucky to check this site when I did-sometimes I don't have the time to check in. Just dumb luck that I got one coming. Anyone who wants one should be able to get IMHO.

Their refusal to limit the number of sets for purchase to a reasonable 1 or 2 is inexcusable. There are already two for sale on Ebay this morning for $1500 and $2000. So theoretically, the first 750 purchasers could have gobbled up the entire lot. By the time it's all said and done, mark my words, you can add a zero on the end of the above prices.

I'm a real Dead fan, went to the 72 Paris shows, bought the majority of Dick's Picks, recently bought a few road trips cds and the Winterland 77 complete recordings....and cannot get the europe 72 boxed set !!!...while some guys bought 5, 10 copies and will resell them with a profit !this is REALLY UNFAIR !! Why don't you extend over 7 200 copies the sales of the boxed set and start the additional selling AFTER personal information by email to everyone registered on deadnet ? If this is not possible, why don't you sale just the cds ( with notes and pictures, and in a nice box ) at a discounted price ( 350 dollars for instance ) ? I do think the way all this was processed made a lot of faithful fans angry and disappointed !! I do think you nee to repair the damage, it will be all benefitial on the long term... PLEASE DO SOMETHING !!!

Did anyone else get screwed like I did trying to order the Europe 72 release. I tried for 4 days and got different and conflicting info and then it's sold out. I have this to say Thanks David, why don't you tell us again how cool the box and everything else about it is so the ones that you screwed can get a little more pissed off, oh and thanks for letting us buy the music at the same price as the box set, what a bargain. I think you're selling it at the same price so you don't piss off the people who wouldn't have bought the box set but would have bought the music cheaper. I've been a long time fan , collector, and customer but not anymore. I will also be cancelling my subscription to Road Trips. This one hurts.

I resubmitted to reserve Sat morning. Sunday at 5pm I spoke on air to Mark Pinkus of Rhino during Tales From The Goldenroad on SiriusXM. He said the cutoff was Saturday afternoon and I should receive a copy of the box and that more E-Mails are going out Monday. Monday morning and I have received absolutely no Emails regarding my submission. The E-Mail Address I submitted is the one associated with this Dead.NET account of greatnorthspecial. Thank you.

450X7200= 3,240,000 Nice chunk for one day! Why don't the powers to be put a list breaking down how many orders, and how many boxed set per order. Any order greater than two, is probably a speculator. I have said it before, and will say it again, the people who run this mail order show are trading our devotion to the music for money. Greed rules. Yes, I gladly purchased my one copy, but this artificial cap on the set has drawn in the sharks. Dead.net should reevaluate their business relationship(s) and return to a time where money can be made without the dark cloud of greed overhead (Dick's Picks...etc). I find it hard to believe the members of the band are not already rich (and that is fine), but with today's technology, as well as the right person in charge, we can return to the family spirit that is so lacking now. It really is a shame. Hug

I have to agree with other posters that allowing the sale off multiple copies of the box set (beyone say 2 copies) at this juncture should not be allowed and any orders of this nature should be reduced. especially where the purchased amount exceeds the reserveation request. This box set is in high demand and everyone should have a reasonable chance at getting one. Please do not allow more than 2 copies per order, at least at this time. They are welcome to purchase more copies of the Music Only if they so choose. Mark Pinkus seemed to say that there would be a legal issue if they increased the number of the box sets past 7200. While this seems suspect since the item hasn't even been produced and shipped, at least they can limit the copies per order. Perhpas they can increase the number of box sets and offer anyone the option of cancelling their order. Then the greedy re-sellers can cancel their orders and move elsewhere. Thanks

Apparently greed is good to go on the road and the other musical recording series, ie road trips so why a low # for the Dead community, remember FW69? How about a subscription for early notification of developing products so everyone is happy. Maybe, we need a marketing dept. from Rhino/GDP for prod run, ha ha.

I have always felt that Deadheads are a family. THIS IS NO WAY TO TREAT FAMILY. I was in the "lucky crowd" with the Fillmore '69 box -- and I remember the humiliated, frustrated posts from those who missed out. You've done it again. This business model of limited editions creates an out-group of Deadheads -- this is what you're about?? You take a tour that has become a special era in the band's history, create a customized deluxe package for it -- and it's out there for 4 days. Then after "lengthy discussions," those of us who are frozen out can pay the same price for the "music only" package. You need more of those lengthy discussions, guys. You have seriously bollixed this up. It is not too late to realize this. You need to create a 2nd edition that has everything the first one has. You need to rethink your business model -- if there's a 9 month production window, why not a three-month subscription period? Your methods have produced a large group of us who feel betrayed -- and we've been with you, in many cases (mine) for 40 years. Open your minds, please, and go over this situation, and correct the mess you've made. This is no way to treat family. .....I'm so mad I don't know what I'll do...at this point I can't bring myself to call and order my $450 consolation "music only" prize. This really, really hurts. I hope someone who's not strictly on the business end at your establishment reads this. The thinking over there is too rigid!

I thought the Grateful Dead played music and people went to the concerts to hear the music. I was mistaken. This music must have been secondary to the merchandise.

and here is where it ends. I will no longer support this business model. I can afford this release. I will not buy it. First the Fillmore debacle and now this? Forget you. This is Cabbage Patch marketing. I knew the second I saw this announcement that the Limited Edition would be another windfall for the secondary marketers at the expense of the people who made this music valuable in the first place, the Deadheads. Well, the good news is you have one more unit to sell to somebody else. I'm happy for you that your business is so lucrative that you no longer need mine.

Do not buy the music only edition! A poor attempt at making up for a total disaster.

I reserved the box set and did not get a confirmation email. Then it was sold out. Then I reserved the MUSIC ONLY VERSION and did not get an email confirmation. Since I reserved the box set five hours after it was announced, I should've gotten the email confirmation and end up purchasing the box set. Wassup Dead.net? This is no good. Help me out here, eh?

The limited edition dealio is a marketing ploy to get people thinking A) I better order this NOW while it's still available, and B) this is an INVESTMENT. I doubt that Blair J and Mary E have anything to do with the marketing side of this, other than writing the prose that gets us all psyched up to spend $450, or acts as a dead.net advocate for Dead Heads Done Wrong. They are, in fact, "one of us" and I would personally buy either of them a beer if I ever met them. I think that TPTB grossly underestimated demand for the FW box, which hurt their revenues and isolated/angered fans. But they thought, "Hey this isn't $100 box, this is $450. If we don't create this air of exclusivity, people won't ante up." So they made it a limited edition, numbered set, with two cutoffs (3,000 and 7,200). It remains to be seen how "sold out" this set really is, after people actually have to give credit card info rather than just "click here to reserve a set." I do wonder how on earth they can calculate when the set is sold out. Do they assume, like with airline seats, that some people won't show up (actually order what they reserved) and oversell it? How do they handle the apparent situation where one code can purchase an unlimited (or is it 10?) number of boxes? It sounds to me like Rhino was a bit concerned about the music not being enough draw on its own to generate the demand they needed to produce this and make a profit, so they added the limited, numbered, personalized marketing doohickies (technical term) to jazz it up. And now they have a small but vocal group here on dead.net all a whinin' and complainin'.

Just ordered mine. With shipping to the UK and duty and sales tax added, I reckon this will cost me $675. Exactly 50% more than you Amurkans...

So obviously us real hippies will not be able to afford this, just the rich sell outs from Sonoma and Marin... I guess will continue to listen to my original three disc vinyl Rev. Tom Church of the LSD Saints

Just ordered mine. Just 1 thank you. Yes, I was given option to order more, seemingly/amazingly many more, at least up to 4. 1 is enough for me though, thank you Karma.

After re-reading Blair's headnote-can it really be that they didn't think they would sell this out or that they thought it would take time to sell out or even enough copies to go forward? A lot of you out there believe this was a market manipulative model being used and I don't know one way or another about that but if Blair is being straight( which I have always thought he was) then they may have had doubts about selling enough of these at the price needed to cover costs of packaging, engineering, etc and turn a profit. We don't know sales figures on other sets which have been released. Certainly, in retrospect, they must believe that allowing single orderers to request multiples is going to lead to more gouging and has eliminated copies which could have gone to real fans and not to speculators. Certainly, you can't "fix" this by de-limiting a limited edition-that is a species of fraud which would open them to litigation but offering the music w/o the box is a good solution-the price decision is certainly open to question as the package is not deluxe anymore. In the future if a Limited edition is offered the run number should be higher and a buyer should be limited to one or two copies. Certainly there will be people who will get around the limit but it at least may slow it down somewhat. I hope this truly was not a situation where someone cynically set up this to create the impression that you had to move now because we're letting the speculators run wild in order to maximize the widget sales quick.

Gee, I didn't know that the only people who could afford this were from California. I'm a 50s middle-class Deadhead, and it's not a big deal for me to spend this one time on a big box set. Granted, not everyone can afford it, but stereotypes like the above are just childish.

I would not buy a code on ebay. If I understand right the code is personal and connected to name you gave when you made a reservation. Also they have been asking like $2000 for Complete Fillmore. Nobody is buying that price (I hope), I got mine for $300 which was fare price I think. Most of the auctions I followed at that time ended around $300-500. Europe 72 will propably not cost more than $1000 in the future either. My order was ok after they recovered the first crash. Reserving, confirming the reservation, getting a code, ordering and getting an order confirmation. Very confusing is that there was this option to buy as many as you wanted (I took only one). Somehow its not fair under the circumstances and I really dont understand how they can keep the count now. There was a limit for 3000 personalized copies and if everyone who made their reservation at that point may order as many personalized copies as they want, how can it be exactly 3000? Or total amount 7200? Like somebody said above it is a legal issue if they change those amounts 3000 and 7200 so they cant do that. That was the offer they made. I think it was the best solution to make this music only edition and get the cd`s and the music available for everyone. It would be also strange if the price for music only edition was less than original offer. `You can buy this now for $450 if you act fast. If you dont, next week you get it for $350.` I was lucky to be one of the first 3000 with this one. I wasnt when I tried to buy Complete Fillmore years ago. Fair or not? It is what it is.

Ideologyhunter has covered just about everything I wanted to say, so much so that I thought for a moment, I'd already done it. No problems with limited edition sets, just grabbed Universal's even more-limited Sandy Denny 19-disc set, however that had a few weeks of shelf-life. No one, not even yourselves, could have expected the reaction to this. Add to that the advance publicity, such as the Rolling Stone article, and the demand for this set gets pushed well outside the Dead community, leaving many of the faithful with cash in hand, but out of luck. Then factor in the shopping cart mayhem, which is where I really got screwed here. Why, oh why, can you not manufacture more sets, make them un-numbered editions, similar to Rhino Handmade's recent re-print of The Stooges Funhouse Sessions? Then you have your magical number of 7200 sets, and offer this next batch to those who tried to claim one in the first place. I also feel you were mistaken in offering more than 1 set per customer. Can't wait to see where the flipper prices are going to begin on Ebay. As you can reference who I actually am, you are more than welcome to look at what I spend at this site, and I know that others are in the same boat, your good customers, left out. Please, we're standing here with money to give you, why not take it? Would love to hear more from Mr. Lemieux on this.

Many of us are still hoping and waiting. Like many, I placed my request on Friday evening, then again on Saturday once I saw the pop-up indicating problems. I never got any kind of a response. This is probably my 5th post on this thread. I guess at this point it would be somewhat of a relief to simply be put out of my misery. Have folks received new confirmations today? Can someone indicate whether the promised additional email have all been sent out? At least then I can stop feeling anxious, and just go pull out my Europe '72 and other discs for a taste of what might have been. Here's hoping once again - please do the right thing and void any large orders in favor of those who want to listen, not profit.

I was able to reserve my ONE personalized copy of E72 and that being said, I agree 100% that there needs to be a limit order of ONE PER PERESON. Also, I have ZERO issues with the price still being $450 for the box set w/o the xtra goodies. Why? you ask; because, I consider the xtra goodies like the Bonus Discs that were alotted to buyers who purchased releases during a time-limited period; once the time limit was over, the Bonus Disc was no longer available but the price REMAINED THE SAME. So, I consider the limited 7200 box set like the Bonus Discs, you don't get the bonus but you still get the music!

Qnape, to answer your question, I received an email last night w/ a code to pre-order the Limited Edition personalized version of the box. The language in the email states that you have two weeks to complete the order, so I have to believe that it won't be until that first/second week of February before there's conclusive evidence that all the boxes are spoken for. If you've received the email letting you know that you'll be emailed the code within 24-48 hours, you're probably in good shape. If you haven't yet, which appears to be your scenario, I'd have a legit concern. Be sure to check your Spam box, though- you never know sometimes. Best of luck.

They had absolutely no idea of how many they would sell. Having already invested much of the costs - remixing, mastering etc., they had to try as hard as possible to reach the break-even 3000. To do this, they advertised it everywhere and did not limit the number of copies each punter could buy. I have no problem with this - except that for some unknown reason they set the limit at 7200 before having any idea of how many they would/could sell. If they had set a limit either when they had reached 3000 or better still on deadline day April 1, then they could have made say 20000 copies. Would anybody NOT have ordered it these last few days if Rhino had said it would be a limited edition but had not stated (now) how many would be made? Most people would have been just as happy and Rhino would have made significantly more money out of the project. Or have I missed something here. Consider Mobile Fidelity, the audiophile label. They always release limited editions which are frequently numbered and they almost never state how many copies they are making. Does that make their products less attractive to their target market? In a word, NO.

......they are really not sure if those of us who submitted our e-mail address but didn't receive confirmation e-mails made the cut (read: if we were getting one, then we should have gotten at least one e-mail by now). They are collecting e-mail addresses to "elevate" the issue and "will get back to [us] in the next few days." Woke up this morning hoping for some kind of announcement here that would restore some sanity to this whole situation. Sigghhhh.....
