    NEW MOONALICE CD/DVD IS AWESOME
    This wonderful studio album [MOONALICE} starts off with "Bleeding Of Love" penned by Ann McNamee with her fine,smooth,soulful voice pleading for relief from false feelings and untrue expressions of love on the run.The powerful pounding heartbeat of James Sanchez'drums, and Jack Casady' powerful bass pulsate throughout this debut masterpiece! Ann'vocals are stunning as well on her other compositions on this album which include "Dance Into The Lightning", "This Changes Everything", and "Listen To Those Eyes". "Bleeding Of Love" flows perfectly into another of Ann' songs "Unspoken Words" sung by Pete Sears of love distroyed by false feelings and words left unsaid, "The heavy weight of unspoken words keeps us apart". A melencoly song by Roger McNamee of one sided love follows that all of our hearts have cried for as not to be true but having to accept as a reality to be haunted by for evermore. And in his head she said, "I'm Glad You Think So". This is one of my favorite songs by Roger. Roger and Ann have been together longer than musical partners in the "Flying Other Brothers" along with pete, Barry, and GE along with others was the tree branch which "MOONALICE" grew from. Roger and Ann are a happily married proud couple who met at a "Jerry Garcia Band" show they were enjoying in the 80'as many of the rest of us have come together at as well. Thank you Jerry!! This bond is strong in their writings together as evidenced in the powerful tune of how quickly situations can change with lives turned upside down in the "Blink Of An Eye". The beautiful guitar and pedal steel guitar melodys flow wonderfully through these stories played by Barry Sless in the style only he can create. "Eileen Aroon" is a classic Irish ballad recorded by the Claney Brothers in 1961 with a newer version being performed during the 1988-89 tours by Bob Dylan' Band with the great guitar player GE Smith who' own arraingment is included here which he sings adding his outstanding classic guitar sound to make it his own. "I Ain't Ever Satisfied" by Steve Earle is also performed here in GE Smith' own unique vocal style and makes this reviewer very satisfied indeed! "Dusty Streets Of Cairo" is GE' original composition on this release and one of it's strongest selections with GE" guitar and Barry' pedal steel dancing beautifully togethor. "Kick It Open" is a rocking infectious tune by keyboardist extrodinare Pete Sears who sings the songs lyrics written by his wife Jeannette who as a team have composed songs in their long history including many of Jefferson Starship’s hits including Stranger, Awakening,Save Your Love, and Winds of Change just to name a few. Pete Sears was also part of the early "Rod Stewart" albums as well as playing with just about every musician and band from the San Francisco Bay Area' musical royality at one time or another over the years. If you love tender, true, genuine, from the heart music then "MOONALICE" is for you! A band of fine musicians and legends in music. Because we all know "It's all about the music"!!!!     Two more for the mix
    The DeFelice Brothers, from upstate NY, are an earthy roots rock type band who really capture that upstate vibe: take a listen to "Rockefeller Drug Law Blues." And one that goes a but further afield is O.A.R. I went to a concert a few summers ago, and absolutely enjoyed it. I may have been the oldest guy there, but I could still feel the connection they have with their crowd, and they played some pretty inspired jams.

I wanted to share the gift of this very special Canadian Artist and his MUSIC with you: IAN THORNLEY I don't know if anybody on the board recalls BIG WRECK, (Ian's first project, whole band is amazing) but if you are able to get your hands on either of the two albums these are superb. "In Loving Memory Of" "The Pleasure & The Greed" The new album Tiny Pictures will be out on Feb. 10 (w/ Artwork by none other than Pink Floyd legend Storm Thorgerson as well. I am diggin' the new single cover art for Ian's new single Make Believe, really cool vibes on that for the travelers.) Ian is a multi~instrumentalist, composer and vocalist of another caliber entirely. His guitar prowess is out of this world.     This guy is just simply amazing. I saw him at Summer Hookah in 08 and damn he melted my face! If anyone here is really into guitar then def check him out. I would have to rate him one of the best guitar players who ever walked this earth!

    The Schwag They are a fabulous GD cover band...they hold summer festivals in MO and tour throughout the midwest. Stu Allen (guitarist from JGB) just signed on to be their "permanent" guitarist. This guy's Jerry vocals are breathtaking. He truly sounds like 80's-90's Jerry....not to mention his guitar playing is phenomenal. Jerry's soul is definitely with Stu Allen. Check him out on archive.org...he also played with a GD tribute "Workingman's Ed" a lil in the past. The guy is amazing. String Cheese Incident is also a favorite of mine...although they are currently on a hiatus. Michael Kang from String Cheese also played guitar for The Schwag at a couple of Schwagstocks last year...good stuff...Bill Nershi from String Cheese also sat in for a few songs each night.

They are obviously solid, very tight musicians. However, I found their recorded music to be almost muzac for Deadheads...excellent background music played by exceptional musicians. Luckily, I had opportunity to catch a live show, and for $20, I gave it a shot. All I can say is "Wow"...extreme energy live...very tight, almost disciplined live, but also highly creative and improvisational. They played about 2 1/2 hours non-stop with VERY impressive jams. I highly recommend their live shows.

Dave McMurray, saxophonist late of Was Not Was, has a new album of Dead covers, Grateful Deadication, which sorta came into being when he saw Weir do Days Between at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass a few years back. It's very good.

Any fans digging Billy's awesome live gigs. He's covered lots of Dead tunes "Wharf Rat" , "To lay Me Down", "Me & My Uncle", All done really well. Of course he's played in Billy and the Kids.

Great live show. Much improvisation.

I may be spoiled, but Indianapolis has an amazing band called Starcat that performs music by the Jerry Garcia Band with a lineup that resembles Jerry's classic 90's outfit.
