Good morning rockers!!!! As many of you may or may not know, I am a bit of a “1971 Dead fanatic”. I have taken on a slightly ambitious project, documenting all 1971 Dead shows, the end result of which I hope will combine numerous “facts/factoids” about shows with recollections of folks who actually attended Dead shows in 1971. In order to accomplish this, I need the help of the Dead fan community. ALL contributions will be properly and specifically credited. If you attended ANY shows in 1971 and have ANY recollections to share, PLEASE consider participating. Please PM me for details. While of course I’m happy to hear from anybody who attended “classic 71 shows” such as Port Chester, Fillmore East, Harding Theater, Felt Forum, etc., I’m particularly interested in hearing from folks who may have attended lesser known, “out of the way” shows, such as: 1/21/71 Davis 1/22/71 Lane Community College 3/5/71 Oakland 4/14/71 Bucknell 4/18/71 Cortland 6/21/71 Chateau d’Herouville 8/4/71 Terminal Island 10/19/71 Northrop Auditorium 11/11/71 Atlanta 11/17/71 Albuquerque In addition, if ANYBODY out there has “paper ephemera” related to 1971 shows, Please consider participating. I’m looking especially for: Newspaper/print media articles Show posters/handbills Ticket stubs Photographs Thanks in advance to all who participate and contribute! Rock on, Doc Gillespie

Or something like that....that means "Here we are!" in Mayan (please, someone correct my spelling) Actually, only one of us is a Deadhead (me). We're living in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico...technically North America, but culturally, Latin America. My car still has my Thank You Jerry sticker on it (barely...it's wearing off), my five or so dead stickers from various shows and my Grateful Diver sticker that my deadhead friend drive gave to me soon after we moved here. Hola to any other deadheads within shoutin' distance... ewok ellen fields www.yucatanliving.com

¡Hola! Technically, I'm not a Dead of Latin America *yet* -- still a Deadhead of Europe (UK-based), but I'm moving to Colombia in a couple of months, so I will be soon. And since things are quiet in this neck of the woods, I thought I might jump the gun a bit and say hello here. I guess Colombia is a little bit of a distance from Yucatan ... but I haven't travelled much in Central/South America so far, and hope to do so once I'm based there. So I guess I'll get along there eventually :) Saludos, Carl -- http://www.carlaz.com/ http://www.myspace.com/carlsefni

Saludos! I live in Morelia, Michoacan and miss going to shows... My husband is a musician. You can check out his site at www.bolasuriana.com and from there go to cdbaby.com to listen to clips of his music. Not the Dead, but...asi es la vida. I moved here some 12 years ago from Western Mass., the Berkshires. Abrazos, Jodi www.bolasuriana.com

i am just watching a breathtaking movie about indios.they climbe up onto a mountain where they spent the night in ice and snow to celebrate secret shamanistic rites.many of them die on their way up the hill, which is seen as a good sign because the gods have taken their lives as an offering.in fact the group is not counted by their leader before going uphill,so nobody notices how many are missing when they return.....they seem like deadheads too.praying to pachamama no matter what the cost.

Hola I have a nice spread down in Guatemala. Out in the Motagua Valley 124 km east of Guatemala City. Presently, I am looking to make something special here called, "Oasis Monte Grande". There are beautiful views of the Sierra de Las Minas and the Sierra Jalapa. The Motagua river flows nearby. It will take some time and money to make this dream come true. All good things in all good time. Chalchuit@yahoo.com

Hello fellow travelers, Ive been considering a sabbatical to central or south america. I am intrested in finding a community where i can get a monthly or yearly rental home. Im hopin to recieve feed back from yall as to where i should look. im intrested in an area near beaches, not too far from a major city, in a safe area, and last but not least in a like minded comunity. It would be great to hear back from any of you who are aware of a kind comunity i might fit into where there might be other tour folks. I appreiciate any and all feedback. Jake

It´s a little hard live in a country where the Dead music is almost unknown, and not just the Dead but all the good music as the psychedelic bands as Jefferson Airplane,Country Joe & Fish,Moby Grape and many others. This cultural expression is almost unknown for the inside good things that flourish for the rest of us.Good greetings for the friends that share this cultural expression around the world,no matter where you are!

That´s exact thing, possibly the more sad thing for the followers in desert countries is not to enjoy the great shows of the Dead,The Grateful Dead never has been in Mexico,Mexico country has meant a fountain of inspiration for many psychedelic bands from the 60's,however not many bands has been playing here, paradoxical thing to remember. But we're trying to keep on touch all about, from the counter culture of this amazing bands as the Dead.El Dead es una de las mejores bandas que emergierón desde esa época hasta nuestros dias.

Mr. Mehta, you will meet many friends who read the case study here in the Latin America thread of dead.net. We are all in case study frenzy at the moment. Are there many people in India who like the case study in the Latin America thread of dead.net? I have heard they meet in the cafe and drink strong tea while listening to Hindi music and reviewing many case studies. We all wish you the very best in pursing your interest of the case study.
