Circulating tapes all cut at the very beginning of New Potato Caboose and splice into the Feedback. DeadBase XI lists the end of this one as New Potato Caboose going into Alligator > Caution > Feedback > AWBYGN, which is probably just speculation on what's missing - but that would be a good guess based on the song list and time period. The remainder of the show is cross faded in from a SBDMR>?>Cass copy. The cut at about 3:14 was also on the cassette, picking directly back up after a one second gap. No Caution vocals are contained on either source. notes: Crptical Envelopment through Born Cross-Eyed comes from an alternate mono SBDMR source (SBDMR>DAT>CD). It contained a great deal of static which was removed with DePopper.exe. Feedback before Spanish Jam contains many hints at the Spanish Jam theme. ENTER THE MATRIX VINE Vol 1. Synchronise a soundboard recording with one or more good audience recordings of the same show and you get a matrix. Some very deadicated and clever people have ‘matrixed’ quite a range of stand-out shows; here are 5 from across the years that I have recently sampled, combining top quality sound with atmosphere like you were there. All that and 3 Dark Stars, 2 St Stephens and 2 Terrapins! 1 DVD with all FLAC files. Would unpack to 12 CDs Sept 19 1970. Fillmore East. (gd1970-09-19.mtx.chappell.31510.sbeok.flac16) Most of set 2. Absolutely mind-blowing show and recording. Great Dark Star and a Lovelight with Pigpen totally outrageous. 1 CD. Dark Star >St. Stephen >NFA>Darkness Jam > China Cat Jam > NFA-> Lovelight>Crowd noise > Youngbloods: Get Together>Phil and Pigpen speak ->Youngbloods: Get Together -> Crowd noise. Sept 16 1972. Boston Music Hall. (gd72-09-16.matrix.SB20.77442.flac) A partial show with good jams and a really authentic concert hall sound too (to my ears anyway). Just before PITB starts you can hear some dude in the crowd drawl ‘Yeeah, this is it’.Sure is! 2 CDs From Set 1 t12 Playin' In The Band. From Set 2. t01. Morning Dew t02 Greatest Story (t03,t04,t05) t06 Dark Star ->t07 Brokedown Palace (T08,T09) t10 NFA -> t11 GDTRFB -> t12 NFA June 30 1973. Universal Amphitheater, Universal City, CA (gd1973-06-30.matrix.SB9.29753.flac16). A good 73 show. 3CDs Set I:Promised Land. TLEO. Mexicali Blues. Tennessee Jed. LLR. Birdsong. Cumberland Blues. "don't panic folks...".Row Jimmy. Jack Straw. Deal. BIODTL. Black Peter. Playin' In The Band Set II: Greatest Story Ever Told. Ramble On Rose. El Paso. Dark Star -> Eyes Of The World -> Stella Blue. Sugar Magnolia. Encore: OMSN January 22 1978. Eugene Oregon. (gd78-01-22matrix.28846.flac16) I don’t know what was going on up there, but they just tear into it. There is no SBD for the second disc so it is (quite good quality) aud only. The rest is matrix and exceptional. 3CDs Set 1:Minglewood Blues. Dire Wolf. Cassidy. Peggy-O. El Paso. Tennessee Jed. Jack Straw. Row Jimmy. The Music Never Stopped. Set 2:Bertha ->Good Lovin'. Ship Of Fools. Samson and Delilah. Terrapin Station ->Drums -> The Other One -> Jerry Solo (Close Encounters) -> Saint Stephen -> Not Fade Away ->- Around & Around. Encore: U.S. Blues May 8 1981. Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale , NY. (gd81-05-08.mtx.seamons.92002.sbeok.flac) Great sound and a rocking show.(with Ken Kesey guesting on harmonica!) 3CDs Set 1:Tuning. Jack Straw. Peggy-O. Me And My Uncle -> Big River. Loser. C C Rider. Althea -> Let It Grow ->Don't Ease Me In Set 2:.Shakedown Street -> Samson And Delilah. Terrapin Station -> Playing In The Band -> Drums ->Space** -> Not Fade Away -> Stella Blue -> Sugar Magnolia. Encore: U.S. Blues** **with Ken Kesey on harmonica FIRST TO SIGN AS USUAL 1 2 3 4

Because nobody was interested in most of the Eurovines that have gathered at my place a while ago, I offered them all (14) at the eurotraders mailing list. Ten of them are gone so far. And what I still have is Eurovine A GD 1970- 05-15 11-08 (with NRPS) Eurovine 2 (RESEED) GD 1978-01- 06, 07, 08, 18 Eurovine 4 GD 1968- 01-22, 27 02-14 08-23 10-08, 12, 20 11-01 12-29 and the Eurovine Acoustic Special So in case somebody has changed her or his mind and is interested in one or four of these, please send me a PM. at least for some time ... Grateful Ted asked for Eurovines A, 2, 4 and Acoustic Special which are exactly those still at my place, after offering all the vines that had assembled at my old place. Now I am rid of these, too. I sent them his way today. And he will probably start to "play vining accordingly". (Told him yesterday that he should add his name to the list for each vine, he is interested in, et cetera.) andré

With me now and been here a while. Sent PM to 'grateful-ted' on the 15th Sept with no response, only 10 days I know, but I note that the US vine has stalled a while back with interest still being shown. Just flagging this up should grateful-ted be visiting but not signed in and to suggest a fresh route for this vine. If I don't hear in the next week or so I'll contact 'reedchris' and kickstart the US vine. Kickstart! Who's dog was called kickstart? Answers on a post card. Bye for now, Greg

This vine has 11 discs, 8 different artists, some are SDB, most are audience recordings, some are collaborators with members of the Grateful Dead, and one is a mystic who was admired by the band (and received a dedication of 'He's Gone' at one of the Dead's shows.)Each of these shows are already in circulation and as usual, I encourage everyone to buy these artist's studio & live music. Salut, Ola, G'day, howdy y'all! I mailed the venerated Eurovine #2 to LIG71 in France yesterday, back to the continent from whence it came. It ended over here in the US, and didn't have any signups for at least two months. Perhaps it can be used to reincarnate a vine in the Old Country? If somebody Stateside signs up we can always reseed. Just letting you know Cheers! Plays guitar:http://www.jimmyherring.net/index.htm Most direct Dead content: Phil and Friends live and on the album 'There and Back Again' and 'Jazz Is Dead' who interpret classic Dead songs with jazzy influences instrumentally. The Lifeboat album is Jazz influenced.

I truly think that this album is one of the most underrated albums by the boys. It was my first purchase of the library and loved it. HOWEVER......nobody has had the testicular fortitude to release it as the other ones have been with TONS of "bonus" material. hen will they choose to do so with this one?I can't even find it in "the store"! My collection is pretty extensive, but what I would't do to hear that PRISTINE version of " Cold Rain & Snow" again.

I've asked about why it wasn't included in the box set(s) w/bonus material like all the other "studio" albums, and I've read about it in different books, and my understanding is that the tapes were/are not very good, they'd been gone over so many times during the original production, lots of overdubs and crap. I think an engineer was fired during the course of mastering, and Jerry and Phil took it over but I got the impression they finally gave up. But I'm certainly not an authority, and it doesn't sound so bad to me. ********************************************* I have a sigfile! --> www.kindveggieburritos.com *********************************************

Hello Cosmic Badger, I have read on The Ark Vine that you were going to do a vine of these three nights but you were beaten to it.Can I persuade you to do a Euro version anyway? To my ears you can't beat 1969 and you particularly can't beat the 1969 Dark Stars. While I've got my begging boots on has anyone got good recordings of Copenhagen 14-4-1972 and 17-4-1972 and Rotterdam 10-5-1972 and 11-5-1972. Thanks for organising the Reconstruction Vine.I haven't heard any of the concerts so it could be interesting.

The Reconstruction in the Way Vine went out to Greg today. No reason why not to do an Ark vine. Did Sunshine Bob not vine those Europe '72 shows over here? If not, well that can be arranged too. But not for a couple of months from me because I am off on continuous work travels between tomorrow and the end of May!
