Hello Everyone, I was at the Garden this past Saturday night. (As I am sure you all know by now, it was amazing.) The blue tie dyes sold inside have a small "400" on the front and the back. These shirts are unique to the MSG show because it has the date and venue name. Does anyone know what the "400" means? Appreciate anything ideas on this one. Thanks.

Me and two friends want to share the cost of the downloads for the tour, but don't know if we could then have it on each of our 4 compouters and ipods - does anyone know how the limits work? We don't want to pirate/ sell, etc, just share between 4 friends....????

I heard a sick version of Bertha on the Grateful Dead channel on Sirius that sounded like it had brass in it and I was just wondering the name or concert of this performance. It could be by a cover band but I do not know. It was on at about 7:45 eastern time. I really want to hear it again so please help me out! It was like no version I have heard before!

where Jerry went off on an audience member for requesting "Truckin"

student ending the semester and going on tour. Need ride to Inglewood.

Does anyone know who the folks are who operate the red and gold first aid bus that I have been seeing at East Coast shows. They say "We know the way, we will take you home" on the back of the busses. I have always been fascinated by those busses. My fascination was rekindled last week in Philly.

Anyone know of a place to pitch a tent near (or even not so near) the Shoreline where me and a friend can crash before our long drive back to L.A.

Can anyone PLEASE tell me where I can obtain a "good" copy of these 2 shows? Thanks

Can someone explain why we had to be in line and stay in line when inside Shoreline and not able to get to lawn area? Had to be in line for what? What was the holdup?

I'm looking for someone with a better memory than mine...I'm pretty sure it was Roosevelt Stadium 72 but I can find nothing that tells me my memory was correct in that the New Riders opened (Jerry on pedal steel) and the boys came out with these costumes. They were glitter cowboy suits and the trails off the rhinestones were phenominal. Then there were fireworks that said everyones name at the top of the stadium, like attached. I can still see that as if it was emblazen on my brain. Anyone remember or know someone that does?

I'm looking for infos about the lighting rig they used on the last tour. How many projectors, how many moving lights, what kind of dimmers, etc. If you know a link, please PM me. Share the Love. Richard.

....on the GD channel. It was featured this week, either Wed the 27th or Thursday the 28th. I wasn't able to catch where the show was from. The songs sequence played was Eyes -> Dancin in the Streets -> Wharf Rat -> Franklins Tower. Tasty stuff indeed. Any help with id'ing the show would be much appreciated!!!!!

I need to see the light! As someone who only saw the Dead during the 1970s, and who fell off the bus after Keith & Donna left, after the Persian Opium infestation, and after all (almost all?) the great songs had been written, I've just never given the Brent/Bruce/Vince era any respect or love. And I never found anything truly inspiring in the various official live and studio releases from those years. I realize the band had tremendous ups and downs throughout that period, but I've somehow never discovered any highest highs to rival what came before. So here's my question: Which soundboard or audience show from the final decade and a half should I listen to in order to start overcoming my prejudice against 80's/90/s Dead? sincerely, HalSF, only half a Deadhead

Thanks for replies... noonie, I'll PM you. I'm probably more interested in hearing a great 1990 show than 1980 at this point, since I feel modestly familiar with '80 via Dead Set & Reckoning and FM radio broadcasts I heard back then.

In Truckin' up to Buffalo, the film of the 7/4/89 show at Rich Stadium, there is a trumpet sound during "I Will Take You Home," the Brent M. song. You don't see anyone playing a trumpet. You do see Jerry playing a Strat, the only time he uses it during the show. Does anyone know if the trumpet sound was from some kind of guitar/synth setup with the Strat? Also, there is a reference to a "shotgun ragtime band" in "Ramblin' Rose," from L.I.E. '72. Can anyone explain the "shotgun" part of that?

This guy wrote Bob Wire a blog asking what the deal is with the grateful dead. He doesn't get why people like them or what real contributions they provided the music world. I believe the show you heard with the Eyes > Dancing > Wharf > Franklin's sequence was 3/19/77. Best site for stuff like this is deadlists.com. Go to search and enter 3 songs and "and" after the first two and you'll come up with every show that in which all those songs were played. It looked like a 77 or 78 sequence to me so I only to look at a few of the 15 shows that came up. Looking for info about this show. I may be mistaken about the date, but I know it was my junior year in college so it had to be sometime between Fall 1974 and Spring 1975. Pretty sure it was in the Spring. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanx, Marye. Already looked there. Only 4 shows are listed for 1975: all in San Fran. I went back year by year and definitely narrowed it down to Spring '75. I was living in an apartment that year and remember for sure leaving the parking lot with our friends as we drove to Durham for the show. I went to Guilford College in G'boro, NC and it was about an hour and a half ride to Duke. Seems like I remember Jerry was beardless at the time. Couldn't tell you anything else about the show other than it was the cleanest sounding concert I have ever been to.

I appreciate your research. Can't argue w/ facts, and indeed '75 was when they took time out. (No wonder only 4 shows were listed!) Must have been earlier that school year, which would be '74. Sometime between late August and December. Kinda hard to remember lots of details from 35 years ago, but it was a good show. One of our friends was from Durham and her mom was connected to Duke somehow. She got tickets for our whole gang. Even offered to put us up for the evening, too. I guess the "Beardless Jerry" creates the proper time line.

Thanx, Marye, for all your research. I finally got in touch with some friends who were also there and they told me the show was Dec 8, 1973. Amazing how 30 some odd years can mess with your memory.

Hey, I want to make a new post, but don't see how to do it? If I could do it, I wanted to ask a few questions. 1. On which albums did Jerry do the studio version of "I'll Take a Melody"? I know I once had it, but I can't remember which album it was on. Can anyone tell me? 2. I want to know which years did Keith and Donna Godchaux play with the band?

NotDeadYet-John, But I believe the Keith and Donna era was from the Fall of 1971 to Winter of 1979. The Truth is realized in an instant, the act is practiced step by step.

Keith's first show was 10/19/71 which also featured a few other firsts, like Tennessee Jed, Jack Straw, Mexicali Blues, Comes A Time, One More Saturday Night and Ramble On Rose. Donna's "official" first show was 3/25/72. Keith and Donna's last show was 02/17/79. At least according to deadbase, anyway. Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.

I'm lookin' for Sunday night, Soldier Field, July somethin, '94, (I think. :)), maybe '93) Was my 2nd show and played Lazy River Road and Days Between. Any help??
