I liked the Warren shows just fine but I did find myself wishing John was up there from time to time because he brings the emotion lotion to lube things up good and he certainly knows how to take the jam to into a race around the sun... Can only hope they do wayyyyyyyyyy more shows!!! Farrell Timlake president, Homegrown Video timlake@homegrownvideo.com

As a post-Jerry Deadhead this was my wish from the get-go!!!!my subliminal voice was heard!!!!! early prediction: John will be on lead for 'The Dead' from now on. Jerry's gone but we can always get as close as possible to what started all of this....I personally think Stu Allen (JGB) would be a better choice but they're both great...John taps into the early Jerry vocals and Stu absolutely nails the late Jerry vocals (which I personally prefer)...now just bring the Further Tour to Texas and I'll be a happy Head!!! Thanks guys...this *really* is a dream come true. I bet John's feeling great! "In a bed, in a bed, by the waterside I will lay my head. Listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock my soul."

I'm still pinching myself. This is the greatest news we've heard in just over 14 years. John certainly has the ability to fill Garcia's shoes better than anyone breathing. Let's all celebrate the return of Grateful Dead for many years to come, fingers crossed.

I think it is cool that Kadlecik is joining up for a few nights but personally I like hearing someone with their own style than someone who is trying to imitate Jerry. There I said it! jackstrawfromco on this topic. Kadlecik's guitarwork from DSO has not proven to be to be transportive. It is my hope that playing with Phil & Bob (as well as Jeff & Joe) can make it be so, for all who are lucky enough to hear this new group go "further". My multiple DSO show experiences did not evidence that experiemental edge being pushed as was so often the case with Jerry and the boys. But I am so glad that these guys will take to the road to prove me wrong and to inspire the masses. The Truth is realized in an instant, the act is practiced step by step.

I have to say that I have seen John do fabulous and mind blowing guitar work with DSO and he definitely sings well with a clear grip on the emotional tenor of the Hunter/Garcia lyrics/tunes. I have been hoping for this bond to be made for quite some time and getting tix for all three nights means an excellent opportunity to find out first hand whether or not those callouses on my crossed fingers and toes were worthwhile... I've never seen/hear DSO (HATE tribute bands) so I'm not qualified to say anything about dude's guitar playing, but this strikes me the same way that Judas Priest and Yes hiring frontmen from tribute bands struck me: kind of cheesy and a bit of a cash grab. Maybe this band will kick ass and soar to new heights, but hiring a guy who's made a living trying to reproduce someone else's playing strikes me as a step back in terms of creativity and exploration. I would be much more excited if I read that they'd hired some kid I never heard of who loved and respected JG's playing, but used that as a stepping stone to do his/her own thing, something unique (kind of like what JG did with his influences, if y'know what I mean)--something tough to do when you're recreating old GD concerts song-for-song 150 nights a year. Jerry cast a pretty wide shadow, and the country is full of wonderful young musicians who have eaten his stuff up and gone on to develop their own voice as players. I'd love to see that guy/girl get the break of a lifetime. I wonder if there's a pair of conspicuous-by-their-absence drummers who wouldn't agree with me....but that's just mindless conjecture.

And just when i thought I could start recouping my savings account... : ) OH WELL... The spring tour was worth every penny spent, and this will be as well assuming they head out East! FANTASTIC news for sure. John unreal... if you haven't seen him or heard him perform, you're in for a SERIOUS treat. Maybeeee but like a couple of folks have already said, you HAVE to also have Billy and Mickey to even think about calling it an incarnation.. I really enjoyed the spring Dead tour and really thought that by the time Rothbury hit they were firing on all cylinders (I thought at times they sounded better than they did for a lot of shows between 93-95 and definitely better than 03-04). But they have always loved to explore new things and so I think the Furthur line up is a cool experiment and I am happy for the Kadlecik fans out there who have wanted this. I was personally more excited for the spring tour but hey as long as Weir and Lesh are out their singing and playing it's a grate thing regardless of who else is playing with them! the boys don't ever play enough bay area shows, which is ironic as they just about all live here. I think it's great that they are doing the three fox theater shows in oakland, but I'd like to ask just one thing: WHY are they playing the tiny fox theater that only holds 3800 instead of a larger place, like henry j. kaiser center, or even for one concert at oakland arena so that ALL of us who want to hear the music can????? those 3 fox theater shows sold out in less than a day. It's quite a disservice to us fans who wait and wait for a bay area appearance. sure they do the occasional charity show here, but almost always it's a very high priced ticket.

the Henry J is essentially closed for the moment. Long story. The Fox, on the other hand, is the newly reopened showcase, so I think there's a cool-venue element here. And the tix are half the price we paid for Shoreline. And it's almost walking distance from my house...

I agree The Fox in Oakland is a good venue its close to Santa Rosa,Calif. so its ideal,I wish they could play at our Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, the Acoustics are good its like the Warfield but its newer, its really close to most major cities in our San Francisco bay area, well 53-55 miles north, but Santa Rosa needs some Vitamin {D} Dead and /or dead related happenings besides our health and harmony which feels watered down and way to expensive,I'm done said my peace :} Larry the Deadhead
