On "Tales From The Golden Road" - Grateful Dead and World Music

With the nations of the world gathered together for the Olympic Games, "Tales From The Golden Road," the weekly talk/interview/listener-participation program on Sirius Satellite Radio's Grateful Dead Channel, will take on an appropriately international tone on Sunday, August 17, as we explore the impact of many of the world's musical styles on the art of the Grateful Dead.  We'll discuss the influence that African, Asian, Latin and other musics have exerted on the Dead's sound. Mickey Hart's role as an avid student, recordist and preservationist of the world's musical heritage will get special attention, as will his collaborations with such master musicians as Babatunde Olatunji, Zakir Hussain, Hamza El-Din and others. We'll also have recorded examples of some very special guests sitting in with the Grateful Dead. And as an added treat, audio of a recently unearthed interview with Jerry Garcia, in which he discusses his Latino heritage and the lasting influence of Latin sounds in rock, jazz and other genres.

As always, listeners are encouraged to join the discussion by calling 888-89-SIRIUS

"Tales From The Golden Road" airs live on Sunday afternoons from 4 to 6 pm ET on Sirius 32, the Grateful Dead Channel, with repeat broadcasts every Monday at 9 am ET

Further at West Velley City - Parking Prices
In was already set to get myself a ticket before I saw that parking costs $25! I am not sure who governs that or what influences the boys have on that, but that was a deal breaker. Unbelievable! And then I can buy the CDs of the show for another set of $$. I know we all need money and need to pay appropriately, but this is going a bit far. I'll just wait for DSO to come into town. Lower ticket price, smaller venue, more consistent show (by definition).....
