You guys coulda made another $500.00 bucks offa me above and beyond all those winterland tickets I bought back in da day... but I forgot my password and you have this infuriaTING CIRCULAR THING THAT JUST KEEP S sending me around and around(hey.. there could be a song there!) However I just listened to Jerry solo on Hes gone and it filled me with such renewed admiration for the way he could express his emotions through melody... I always lived for those sublime moments when he just squeezed every bit of his heart out in every note and sent me on a roller coaster ride of emotion. I miss Jerry the musician cuz that all he wanted to be and he was damn good at it. A nice guy too.. I met him a coupla times in Cotati. Anyways, I wanted to buy that Wichita tape that you gave me a nibble of and WTF!! Its sold out...Cmon u guys,, u got one more to sell me .. for old times.. all those 2am dinners at IHOP after a dead show... the tuesday nights and thursdays were always the best.. I skipped the Saturday night s after a while cuz Jerry always got most inspired when he didnt feel obligated to. I hope Phil sees this.. I'd like to share with him this little pure nugget of musical wisdom that Jerry said to me when we talked.. I think he might appreciate it.

To me it's kind of like Dead archaeology, like when they excavated Rancho Olompali and found all those records. It's an historical event that may have left behind historical artifacts of one sort or another. The one bit of history I have found, and I don't know accurate it is alludes to John Williams being a program director around that time. But as an historical event created to span some length of time it does have a beginning, a middle and an end, with a unique plot arc spanning that length. So if anyone has information about this, please post it. If the bet hasn't been paid off, it might even be worth getting the two together again, if for no other reason than historical closure.

An off the wall question about a bit of Dead lore/history
I am unable to start threads, so someone suggested this link to me to reply to an existing thread. My question is about Sam Hughes and John Williams. Those are the two guys in the 1977 Dead movie who were filmed while arguing about the movie itself. Sam Hughes was claiming that it was too commercial and exploited the Dead fans for money. John argued that it wasn't, and that in a few years Sam would watch the movie and like it. They ended up making a bet. Does anyone know what the bet was, whether or not it was paid off by the loser and/or what ever became of Sam Hughes and John Williams? I've searched the Internet but only found references to the segment in the film. In a way I would think many people would have followed up on this since it was such a noticeable part of the film, but I haven't had any luck. Thanks.

Why is there no info. from Dead.net about the Hampton '79 release? It's only a week until the release date. I wonder if this a Rhino release, a Dead.net sponsored release, or a third party release? I'd have thought they would be hyping it up on the home page by now. For a 'listening party' check the DaP 9 thread, I posted five links of stuff David Lemieux has played over the years on the Taper's Section. If you are viewing the comments in newest first, it is post number 1508. If you are viewing them oldest first it is post number 922.

US postal money order status can be checked by calling 866-459-7822. The automated system will ask you for your postal serial #, dollar amount and post office number – all located on the money order receipt. The system will then say if the money is “does match” or “does not match” their system. “Does NOT match” means that the money order has been cashed! Hopefully I will get tickets and all the bitter & negative people on the chat boards out there stay home.

Has anyone heard about if they will notify if you have gotten tickets through mail order? Will they notify before this Saturday morning????

Says they are trying hard to notify winners by email within next two days. My question is, is it just me or did all the other ticket travel VIP packages disappear except for the most expensive. I swear two days ago they were up and I was making huge rationalizations about how to afford the Workingman's Dead that included 3 res. and 3 nights stay for 2 for $1550. Oh well, couldn't afford it anyway with money in MOs floating around but I am I hallucinating?

If in fact these will be the last shows of the GD I appeal to any Deadhead with influence... 1) There should be a fine & powerful & lengthy version of Terrapin Station backed up by genuine black gospel choir. That would be absolutely ethereal. 2) There should a good long version of Dark Star where there ought be several lead guitarists. I suggest inviting a whole host of musicians such as Steve Hillage, Al DiMeola, Santana, etc. There are are so many folks who have loved the GD that some talented folks will show up & do a monumental job.

Hey I'm a college student looking to talk to a real Deadhead about their experience. I'm too young to have seen Jerry or been to a show. I've seen Dark Star a couple times, but would love to hear some stories from the hey day. If you feel like you can help me out, let me know. 9738030592 louiscusano4427@gmail.com

Can someone please confirm whether, or not, parking passes for Santa Clara have been on sale, yet? Thank you.

My thinking and I believe me is that you will have info on parking passes in the same package that your tics are sent in. Then you will have to follow those directions and order the passes on line using some sort of ID that comes with your tics. I could be wrong about all of this but me thinks it may be something kinda like that.

I agree - parking pass info will come with tix, in hopes that folks without tickets won't go to show and re-create the ugly parking lot scene of the '90's, when the lot was full of people whose only purpose was not the music but to just get wasted. Those w/o tix should watch on streaming or PPV. And they announced last week that the tix will be sent out in mid-June. They've got them all decorated and looking beautiful, now they're going "hunker down" and get everyone's envelopes in order. (which is another way of saying there will be no more announcements about this - they're busy). All of this info, and more, can be found on the Dead50 website. Including the June 1st announcement of PPV option(s).

My cable provider (Comcast) is not showing the June and July Fare Thee Well shows on their PPV. Are the cable providers going to have the shows - or - is streaming video the only way to see the shows. Thanks... :)

that's probably true of the 30-day on-demand, but I would confirm with the nugs.net folks. The live feed option supports IOS, so if you can watch in real time that should work.

that they'll be rebroadcasting each of the SC shows starting 30 minutes after the show ends. 104.5 FM in the Bay Area; they're on RDIO also, but I don't know what constraints might kick in there, if any.

"HEY, WHO WON THE WEED BOWL, MAN?" - a question shouted in my direction (from a vehicle) in July of this year whilst standing on a corner in Seattle, WA outside Uncle Ike's pot shop. The guy next to me was wearing a Weed Bowl 2014 t-shirt. Something in my mind tells me all the competitors were winners.

Hi all. i'm trying to find a show and set list from it, but I cant seem to find it in the show archives. It was my first Dead show and I LOVED it and have been a head ever since. I don't recall the exact date. What i do know is that it was roughly 1976-77. A warm beautiful June or July afternoon/night in a small outdoor stadium in New York(not the city). Like a college stadium with one cement level. The dead was the headline band with 2 other openers. One was the Good rats. I found a show in 1979, but i'm sure the show I saw was before that. If anyone can help me 'remember' that show I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks

Excellent sounding show. But I have a complaint - our seats were the farthest away last row against the wall from the stage - the lights from the stage were pointed right at us. We were blinded almost the entire night. We couldn't even watch the screens for the lights. Is there a way to notify the people in charge of the lighting that they need to make sure they are not blinding anyone. I have already lost some of my hearing due to the amount of concerts (mostly GD), I really don't want to lose my eyesight due to them..... Other than that light issue - the sound was awesome, the fans were awesome, and the music was on point!

...I was wondering which live version of Althea was included on the Go to Heaven expanded cd. I did some sleuthing and found the version most definitely is from 10-23-80. It's only listed as 10-80 on the track listing. So, in case anyone else is interested in these kinds of things... P.S. There are two other tracks from this run where there aren't precise dates given. They are Row Jimmy and High Time. These tracks are featured on the Dead Set expanded cd (with the date 10-80). The correct dates for these are 10-10-80 and 10-25-80 respectively.

Loving the 30 Days but for some reason 'Operator' and 'Althea' refuse to join the rest of the songs. I have an Apple and the songs have downloaded but they will not enter the same folder as the other 24 songs! Anyone know why?
