I made a post in the families forum on July 3. It was there later in the day as I logged on to let my wife read it. Today (July 4) I went back to the forum to read any new posts and my post was not there. I'm not very computer savvy, but am curious has to how and why this happened. Thanks so much for any enlightenment on this.Peace.

I am sure many would share my sentiments. I have enjoyed the new site thus far, the Tapers Section is great, met a few new people already, I'm sure it will only continue to grow.

Thanks for the info. It just seems foolish to me that the Download Series is no longer available, hopefully it is short term and will return. Ratdog, Gov't Mule, Phish, Widespread Panic, and many more all have downloads for sale on their sites, seems like it would be purely a cost effective profit maker as there is no hard product to manufacture, ship, etc. I saw a posting on here the other day by someone that said "alot of Heads he knew are in fact dead", given that statement and the fact that we all are getting older, common sense would tell you that there are less of us today than there was 10 years ago, the longer it takes to get the music out there, the fewer sales there ultimately will be. Don't get me wrong, I am ecstatic every time a new archive release comes out like Three from the Vault, and I do purchase them all, but it should have come out years ago. (Don't get me started on the JGB stuff!) I realize it takes time to remaster stuff, and there is no way to do this every piece of tape in the vault, but it doesn't matter that every show is sonically perfect, the demand is there. If you take look at the Internet Archive at http://www.archive.org/details/GratefulDead and see how many times each show has been downloaded, this proves my point and if they charged a fee to download from there instead of allowing just the streams, that would be a hell of alot income for the band and its staff. Yes I agree the old philosophy that the music is "free" doesn't apply anymore, but it would make alot of people happy if they just made it available. I'll get off my soapbox now.

No, doesn't require an iPod, and the iTunes software has Mac and PC versions. You can play the music, burn CDs, etc. and never use an iPod at all. I used it for years before I bit the bullet and bought the iPod, and boy did I look silly sitting in the airport listening to tunes on my iBook... The more audiophile among us think there may be better audio formats than the one iTunes uses, so you may want to wait for them to weigh in here. (Or ask over in the Technical Discussion topic in Tapers.)

and as soon as we have an answer we'll post it. Meanwhile, as posted elsewhere, the downloads are alive and well on iTunes, so if that format works for you, go for it.

It was initially on the "Skeleton and Roses" (or Skullfuck) live album. (I believe) and then you can find it on the Dicks Picks Album(s) # 3, 7, 12, 13, 14, 18, 24, 25, 29, 31, 33, and 33 that you can order from the store here. It is one of my favorites and heard the Dead first play that on 616-74 and loved it ever since. It signals classic and emotional dead jams and often is at the heart of wonderful second sets. That is what I know. Get one of those and you will never regret it.

Have been having alot of trouble obtaining a copy of Dicks Picks #25 (New Haven/Springfield 1978). I tried to order it through a record store who has most of the others on their shelves, to no avail. Tried a few spots on the internet & came up empty also. Any suggestions? Please post an answer or send an email. Many Thanks, Patrick

It's true, this is set up so only mods (i.e. izzie and I ) can start topics. However, if you send either of us a message about a topic you'd like started, we're usually pretty responsive. Maybe a little slower with the holidays, but just let us know and we'll do our best. Thanks!

Is quite the mystery man. I have tried to find out some info about him. I just know that he is an awesome artist that does alot of posters for concerts and feativals.. Even his site Terripan Productions says it has his bio but when you click into it, it just shows a picture of a snake. Yep good question!! Peace :)

be very careful with this. There are a lot of bootleg GD DVDs flying around Europe which are in fact hacked together compilations from various VFTV and other releases. I pointed this out to Rhino a while back and they all disappeared from Amazon soon after. The set list for this one (from Play.com) makes me suspect it is something similar...... # Bertha # Little Red Rooster # When Push Comes To Shove # Bird Song # The Music Never Stopped # Hell In A Bucket \ Happy New Year # Uncle John's Band # Lady With A Fan # Terrapin Station # The Other One # Wharf Rat # Throwing Stones # Not Fade Away # Knockin' On Heaven's Door

Not sure really what the value is in adding this info to the posts. Why is it important? You can look it up if you want to. If the techies have that much time on their hands please ask them to fix the system to DISPLAY THE LAST POST FIRST. Now that would be useful!
