Will there be a shakedown st you think? "Escaping through the lily fields, I came across an empty space. It rainbow then exploded, left a bus stop in its place. The 3G's 'aka Grateful Garcia Gathering 2009
The 3Gs ('aka Grateful Garcia Gathering), is returning back to the Camp NCN Venue in beautiful Black River Falls Wisconsin July 30th though August 2nd 2009 where it all began over 6 years ago! A grateful place where Garcia fans will be gathering! It also marks the celebration of Jerry Garcia's 67th Birthday, plus the 14th Anniversary of Jerry's untimely passing. We have leased the campground venue for July 30th though August 3rd 2009 for our 6th annual music festival. Other great music festivals have hosted at this venue such as Weedstock, Farmapalooza, Sundog Summer Shakedown, the Big Wu Family Reunion, Campout Roots Festival, Effit Fest, just to name a few! The venue features 75-plus acres of brilliant surroundings with tall trees that nicely shades your camp site. Campers are welcome to have campfires at each individual campsite and firewood is available at the venue. The venue has a full array of conveniences, including 2 facilities with flush toilets and hot showers and other luxurious accommodations. Other venue amenities include a sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits, hiking trails, outdoor/indoor shower facility, full service concessions with food, two music stages, and more!

For your fishing, swimming, and water sports pleasures the venue has a beautiful five-acre natural spring fed lake with sandy beaches, plus the lake has a paddle boat available for your enjoyment with a fixed swimming platform. Many near by hotels/motels to choose from in Black River Falls if outdoor camping isn't your desire!

This is going to be a very deeply humble, and special time for camping and gathering with friends of old and new! The 3G's will be a mix of wonderful music by some of the best Jambands in the midwest playing their original music, along with their selections of two or three Grateful Dead cover songs. Our friends at Mystix Toyz will be on board at the 3G's for tons of family fun with juggling demonstrations, including juggling workshops, face painting, kids parades, plus drum circles and fire dance jams every night!

This festival may not technically fit the category because for one its in the fall and second this is the first ever so I can't recommend it based on past experience. This is a festival scheduled for Oct. 9 & 10, the Saturday and Sunday of Columbus Day weekend. It is being held on the grounds of a small microbrewery in Nelson County, VA. I hear its very near Wintergreen Resort. This is a very beautiful area in the Blue Ridge mountains. The festival headliners are the Infamous Stringdusters. Others on the bill are Railroad Earth, the Tony Rice Unit, Toubab Krewe, Larry Keel and Natural Bridge (Larry has done some touring with Keller Williams) and Old School Freight Train, an excellent progressive bluegrass band from the Charlottesville, VA area. David Grisman has produced one of their CDs and I think they have toured with him. There are numerous other bands as well. I bought my tickets today and they were a very reasonable $54 for a 2 day pass with camping. I think that increases to $64 in about a week. Still a quite reasonable price! I'm looking forward to this one as I know the area is beautiful, they're featuring beers from several very good microbreweries in central VA and they have some excellent bands! Guess it could be a disappointment, but I doubt it! If you want more info I think the website is thefesty.com.

I thought I would post here and see what happens... I haven't been to this festival since the 90s but it still ranks up there as one of my favorites. Just haven't been able to get back there yet. Just got back from Bonnaroo. I have been lucky enough to make 9 of the first 10 (couldn't stomach 2 nights of WSP in 2005) and hands down, this is the fest of all fests. My Morning Jacket's friday night set simply obliterated the rest of what was an amazing weekend of music. Saw Buffalo Springfield Saturday night and wow, they brought it. A relevant tour and set- very nice! J.T. Gossard http://thehallucinogenicbible.blogspot.com/

Terrapin Hill Harvest Festival is by far my fav! Very laid back and family friendly. It has been going on for so many years that the surrounding area is very welcoming and friendly. The energy is pure and addictive. They have a smaller one in June called Family Reunion. It is a lot smaller with mostly local bands. Also worth catching! weir, greene, & robinson, have allowed their respective management agencies to perform at the wakarusa festival in franklin county, as you may be aware, this festival does not use properly licensed festival, and should you sustain an injury here, or be the victim of a violent crime on the event campus, said security concern will NOT render aid or attempt to arrest the perpetrator(s) even if they directly witness said crime.-I was not the only person violently attacked at this event, and there were numerous reports of suppression of reporting of violences at the 2010 edition as well (source; st bernards crew volunteers). mr weir, as a longtime fan and sublicensee who has attended literally 1000s of your shows, and mssrs greene & robinson, (whom I have also attended scores of performances by, nationwide). in light of -in particular- mr weirs decision to perform at a benefit for a sn francisco giants fan who was severely injured at a los angeles dodgers game (and reportedly, not assisted by that organisations security personnel), I respectfully request that you have your management team rethink this decision to perform at this decidely unsafe event. if you or your team have any questions for me, regarding what i (and others)feel is not safe for your fans I can be reached via the following email vendingmachine@hotmail.com or (720) 838-6564. thank you. ps-it did not escape mine (and others) that your management team had the presence of mine to schedule last years furthur festival the same weekend as this event, (in what appeared to be a rather strong 'hint', to your fans, that they were 'safer' at an actual grateful dead event, than the poor excuse for a venue that mulberry mountain/wakarusa operates (semi-illegally, no less)* * i will also be happy to share with you the letter I received in the US mail from an attorney in lawrence, ks, threatening to sue me for 'libel', for publishing the fact that the wakarusa festival does not use licensed security as per AR law

The grateful sled is doing highway clean up then we all head to the barn for music and food.

My favorite summer music festival in recent years has been the Ojai festival in southern California. They really do some interesting stuff. This year there are intimate sunrise concerts on beautiful Ojai hillsides and late night concerts of John Cage music. Also, matinee and evening concerts on saturday and sunday. Highly recommended!

The 3G's just celebrated its 10th Anniversary, and its last in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. The 3G's is moving to a new venue called Kickapoo Campground in beautiful Gays Mills Wisconsin, one hour south of BRF. We were VERY honored to have Brian Lesh (son of Phil Lesh), Ross James, and Alex Koford of American Jubilee perform on Jerry Garcia's 71st birthday this past August 1st!!! Thanks for a real good time! (~);}http://GratefulGarciaGathering.com

Every year I say I'm going to go to the Country Fair, and every year I don't make it. This year I know for sure I won't be able to, and now I'm REALLY bummed!
